Good Work Day

Monday, May 06, 2013

I got away from home today and far from the issues at home. That's one way to appreciate having a job that gets you out of the house. My husband and his sister who had knee replacement surgery, had a yelling match and gripe session on the way to her therapy. She has been sneaking extra pain medicine behind his back and he had to explain the harm and seriousness of that action. In her state of anger she got a ride from therapy and stayed with a friend until 5 PM. After that he decided to let her take over her own care. He's been doing her pan baths, preparing her meals, monitoring her exercises, giving her a shot in the belly, buying her supplies and paying for them, running her business without compensation and just being very sweet. He told her today that she can take care of herself, while she stays at our house. This is the best arrangement and this way he will not be so resentful that she is using him. That will help her get rehabed faster. He has already paid a couple thousand dollars to help with her medical expenses. I feel sorry he has volunteered to do this, as i made the suggestion to help her without realizing she would expect so much from us.

There's always a drawback to every good action. I am very proud of my husband and my family for being so kind, even if she has not been very nice back.

No good deed goes unpunished right. At least he stood up for himself and she will get better faster.

I agree with Mslzzy. I also feel, you kindda expected something like this would happen, from the way you were dreading it so bad.

My husband would have thrown her out of the house! It will be very hard to stay removed with her still being in your house.

BTW, I had enough problems with the pain meds, just taking what was prescribed. Big time constipation and impaction--not fun! I really have a hard time understanding why people would get addicted to them, when all I wanted was to get off of them as soon as I could!!! They really had to talk me into taking them, so I could get the most benefit from my PT.

You are both very kind people to do what you have already done for her! So, TRY not to feel bad or guilty, and don't beat yourself up!

Maybe, she'll just leave on her own.....

    Luv ya!

At least it was him standing up to her and not you. Let them fight their own battles and figure out how to make it work. Best to stay out of it. HUGS!
