On tucking in and other fashion statements

Monday, May 06, 2013

With not much control over my weight throughout my life, and not a huge degree of fashion sense, I've just not bothered to have belts, and I've just not been in the habit of tucking in my shirt. That little bit of "curtain" sure seems to keep tummy shape and my unfashionable waistband height a little bit of a mystery.

I went out in public on Saturday with a long sleeve knit top tucked into low-rise (ish) jeans. And a belt. First time in... geeze... I really don't know. And this comes just a day after I'd gone out in public in a tank top. I don't think that had happened since the 1990's.

No-one else probably thought anything of it. They probably wouldn't have thought anything of it had I done these things when I weighed 200 pounds, either. I've just got a little nag voice in my head I have to work to quiet as I dress my changing body, so I can have a good reason to care what it looks like.
