My heart is breaking :-(

Later today I have to say goodbye for the last time to my beloved cat tiger. The Vet said she suspects he has a brain tumor and there's nothing she can do for him. He has been terrorizing my little female cat Patches and attacking me. The medication he was taking has stopped working. It is so hard to give up hope that he would get better, he would only get better for a few days at a time. The Vet said that I had done everything possible and it would be more humane to euthanize him rather than to let both cats suffer because of this disease. My heart is breaking. emoticon emoticon

    I'm so sorry about Tiger. We lost our two darling kitties a pretty long time ago, now...before we adopted our dog and we've had her 11 years. I'm going to have to go through the grieving process again, much sooner than I'd like. We are so fond of our dog. And I still miss our cats. One lived 16 years and the other 20. They were so much fun.

    emoticon My heart is breaking with you. My Tigger died suddenly a year ago- attacked by a bird of prey in our urban front yard- it was sudden but traumatic. She was with us almost 18 years and we still 'see' her around the house. We hold her memory close in our hearts because she was the best kitty our family could have ever had. Hold your memories of Tiger close and know that your decision was one of tough love. Healing will come

    Brenda, I don't know anything about you. Saw the title of your blog on the ticker and just felt moved to go to your page to leave a message of hope and healing for you.

    When I saw what your heartbreak was about, I was crushed. I am so sorry. This is sorta strange because, when I was a kid (long, long time ago), I had a cat who lived to be 19 years old. Her name was Patches. I hope your Patches will be with you for at least that long - and with both of you in good health.

    Again, I'm so terribly sorry for the loss of your dear Tiger.

    I lost a puppy in January to intentional poisoning by a crazed neighbor, so I certainly understand your pain.

    It's hard. Our daughter-in-law's older cat lived to be almost 20 when they had to make that difficult decision. The cat was with the family before our grandchildren were born. They all had some rough days. emoticon

    Brenda, I type this with tears in my eyes, as I too have lost my beloved pet. My dog, Teeny, passed away last night. I'd had her for 9 years, since she was a puppy. She stuck to my side like glue and I was very close to her. When I was in the recliner, she was there with me, when I was in the kitchen, she was there with me, when I went to bed, she was in bed with me, any time that I went somewhere in the car that she would not have to be in it by herself for more then 5 or 10 minutes, she went with me. She's been gone less then 24 hours, and I feel like my world has crumbled around me.

    The only thing I can tell you, my friend, is that my Teeny & your Tiger are in a better place with Jesus, and they are no longer in any pain or suffering.

    So sorry for your having to make such a hard decision. We had to have our dog put down several years ago and it was one of the hardest things we have ever done, so I feel your pain. Just remember all the fun times you had with him and know that he will no longer be sick.

    So sorry to hear that. Recently my daughter had to have two of her cats put to sleep because of a similiar situation and it was hard but necessary.
