Week 3 BLC #18

So I've had to be MIA for the first few weeks of this challenge due to the fact I had minor surgery RIGHT before Week 1 and have had to be off my routine for the past couple weeks. Last week I went back to work but I am still not really able to exercise since I am still healing up but this next week I plan on at least attempting to get my eating under control and try some of the non physical challenges.

I started seeing a counselor last week also who I am hoping will help me to conquer my issue of binge eating in the evenings, I know it is going to be a process but I am looking forward to trying new ideas on how to handle stress and other things which I know are factors in my bingeing.

This past weekend I was out of town because my Nana passed away suddenly last Monday, it came as such a shock to my family and after the passing of my father in February I just cant handle anymore loss in my life right now and have felt extremely emotional about it all. This has all caused me to really take a good hard look at my lifestyle choices and realize that I have got to do something or else I know I am not going to be around to watch my daughter grow up and the thought of that kills me inside. Now going into week 4 I am planning on getting serious and really doing what I need to do in this challenge and work hard towards my goals!

    I'm so sorry to hear of your Nana's passing. You have had such a challenging spring! I admire you so much for recommitting to yourself, your health, and your daughter in the face of such hardships. I know you will be successful, and I'm here to help you in any way that I can.


    As for surgery recovery, without knowing the type of surgery is there any strength training or stretching you could do while you continue to heal? That was something I wished I had thought of after major ankle reconstruction nearly 2 years ago (which, btw, resulted in a 25 lb gain. Ugh!). I could have stretched and strength trained, even done arm-based cardio... But didn't. Instead, I used my inability to walk as an excuse to lay and sit around for 5 months. Thankfully your recovery time is much shorter!


    Finally, I just wanted to say good for you for seeing a counselor about the binge eating. It sounds like a critical first step to take. I wish you all the best in the remaining weeks of BLC 18, and really look forward to seeing your progress!
