So you want to lose a little weight. You been thinking of trying for years. You finally get up the courage .You research it a little You get determined you decide it is a go, You tell a friend , a lunch mate and .......

T R O U B L E !!!!!!!

This is the response you get from your so called friends You don't need to lose weight .You will never be able to do it. Are you crazy!!!!. Tomorrow let's go out for pizza at lunch. What are you bringing to the 10 am meeting tomorrow I am bring donuts and Betsey is bringing brownies?

Just great.

Then you go home to tell the family that you signed up at the gym and plan on going right after work. Also you will be adding more fruits vegetables and grains to supper and less meat. You are all excited to hear there response. They are family and should stand beside you and this is what you hear......


Your husband says you don't need to lose weight honey .I love you rolls and all. If you go to the gym won't my supper be late. You daughter wails my friends go to the gym what if they see you there i will never be able to go to school again. Your son say's just great mom who is bringing me to soccer practice right after school , and I cant survive on vegetables.

So now what do you do Give UP. No!!!!! Start your own ....

T R O U B L E.

Bring a salad to work every day ignore what your friends are saying and eating . You are you and that is all that matters. Go out for pizza with them but order a salad with dressing on the side. And the office meeting start bringing low fat muffins ,homemade and make sure that is all you eat.

Then at home get ready to start ....

T R O U B L E.

Tell the family that you will not be available after work anymore. Johnny can get a ride with his friends to soccer or your husband can take him. All doctors dentist and eye appointments will be made on Saturday or after supper, no exceptions. Repeat you are not available after work. You will also need more help with the wash, dishes and other house work and assign tasks to the rest of the family. Everyone will have to get more organized. Everyone should be ready for supper now at 5 and be ready to eat more veggies or make there own supper and do their own dishes.

You can and will be able to lose weight and feel great for the rest of your life it just requires that you cause a little trouble to get what you want . Go ahead stir that pot unafraid because the outcome will be great.

    So true! You have to do what you know is right. And it's always a battle! I remember when my mom went back to work full time after my sibs and I were in high school.. we didn't like it a bit because there weren't always home made cookies in the cookie jar any more and (heaven forbid) WE had to make dinner sometimes! Way to go setting some good, healthy boundaries with your co-workers and family. emoticon

    We must put ourselves first when it comes to this fight but it isn't always an easy thing to do. Your list of troubles were the exact things that we must do and continue to do and we will come out on top!
