~ ... a new workout ... review ~

... yes, "YODATES!"... a unique workout that combines the elements of "yoga, dances & pilates"...

This dvd workout was on sale @ Total Fitness DVD's for $10.00. It looked interesting, and you know me, the vidiot that I am emoticon, figured I would try it out.

I was pleasantly surprised at the intensity of this workout. The instructor starts with a warm up, than transitions into standing upper & lower workouts, than on to the floor using a pilates ring for legs & core. The moves are unique and the exercises focus on breathing, core & posture. Although this is a low impact workout it doesn't lack in intensity; focusing on the core naturally drives your HR up. She ends appropriately with a cool down.

The emoticon music is great, I loved the soothing blend of contemporary jazz that mostly syncs with the moves and allows you to flow with it. For me this is great... emoticon

... there is an introduction to the program that explains how and why this workout came about; she also explains and demonstrates how to properly do the exercise movements, they are not easy, but very doable and there is a moderator who doesn't go as deep into the movements... this is a workout that you can grow with. I love the mind and body connection of the workout; this will definitely take some time to master.
