Slim Gym’s GI Warriors
We are Slim Gym’s, little glycemic index warriors, marching into battle with our pedometers glinting in the sunshine and our GI diet books under our arms. We know that we have to fight this battle. It will be easier and we will feel better about ourselves if we lose the weight and fight to keep it off then to struggle and fight the exact same battle feeling fat and ugly. We can do it alone or we can do it together. We will have success and some setbacks. We all know that it is easier if we do it together because our GI unit is counting on us to do our part and that strengthens our resolve.
So come to the musters and say the magic words “I don’t want to be fat and unhealthy” talk about our common problems and gain the resolve to make the necessary small changes to attitude, nutrition and fitness goals. Develop the unit camaraderie and resolve to get you through the vacations, visiting relatives, parties, and holiday feasts.

    I have never done a blog before but since I am trying everything that SP has to offer here goes.
    After I confessed that this is not the first time that I have had to lose the same fifty pounds some of the people that welcomed me to this group asked me to share what I have learned on the GI diet.
    Two of the things that I have learned are that you can overdo it and hurt an Achilles tendon or get bored with the routine and just quit if you try too hard. You have to make it easy enough to stay in it for the long haul. You have to make it fun and try new things. Try to do everything on the Spark Points page just for ideas. Once you learn to keep a journal you can critique yourself and see progress without the dreaded “SCALE”.
    Most of what I will say is my version of the GI diet from the book by Rick Gallop and The Spark by or our own Chris Downie. That said I recommend that you get a copy of both books and make your own interpretation.
    I thought we should have some fun with the GI which to some old timers stood for “Government Inductee” not “Glycemic Index”. Thus we all become warriors. Just assign yourself a rank (private to general) and join the fun. Weigh in every Tuesday and then on Wednesday tell us about the battles you fought the week before. I will try to add something to the blog every Wednesday.
