This time last year....

I was depressed.
I was out of shape.
I didn't want to get out of bed.
I had no motivation.
I just didn't want to do anything

I workout 6 days a week to prep for my next half marathon. Wow a half marathon..and my 2nd one too! If you would have told me last year that I would be training for my second, I would have said what are you smoking and can you share? So June 2nd I will be hopefully killing my finish time by 20 mins.

I started a running group at work... A WHAT??? ME? Again last year if you would have told me that I was going to start a running group, I would have checked your head.

It started when a co-worker asked me to teach her how to run. I showed her the basics and then it took off from there. I watched as she huffed and puffed through her first mile like I did. Now she can run almost 2 miles without stopping. She then asked if she could bring a friend..one thing led to another and I now have 10 people that run at different times throughout the week. The group runs 2-3 times a week..some together some solo. I have beginners from time to time who have heard about the group and want to join. So in order to give them more information, I send them links to SparkPeople videos or Runner World videos for better stretching, form, etc. I try to give a pep talk after each session and they actually applaud me and thank me. I calmly tell them that they are the ones running...I am just pushing them to strive for more.

Now they want to run the next San Jose half marathon in October. I am so proud.

So life is good..work is stressful but hey its not called work for nothing. The workout schedule keeps my stress down.

Always remember:

No matter how slow you run, you are lapping the person on the couch.

This is great, be proud of yourself. I seem to be going backward of your progress. I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in 2006, ran the Army 10 miler in 2008 and the Marine Corps Marathon in 2010, and I've ballooned up and taken to a job where I'm seated all day and fear I may end up on the couch. I know I can turn this around, it's not a one way street. Thanks! emoticon
