Creating new habits takes time

Thursday, May 02, 2013

Yesterday I fell off "the wagon." Hard. I didn't even look at any of my tools I just enjoyed eating a lot of junk. Today instead of moping about it and getting overanxious, I decided to just start working out again and pretend like it never happened. I am slowly realizing that I have to create new habits to replace my old ones.

Its going to be tough but I know that I need to do this for me. I am going to be 39 on May 20th. I have one year until 40. I know that is a huge milestone birthday and I want to hit that milestone healthy and FIT! The only way that I can do that is by creating new habits.

This month's habit is going to be water and putting exercise back into my world. It has been so long since I have focused on things that I have to start small. Luckily after pregnancy I didn't go drinking diet coke quite as much as I use to. Now I want to cut down to one or two diet cokes a week. It would be nice to enjoy one while eating out, or one while fishing. Other than that I really want to focus on drinking water and other things.

By my birthday this year I want to be able to say two things
1. I am now exercising at least 4 days a week for 20 minutes a day.
2. I am now drinking 6-8 glasses of water.

I think those two goals are achievable. I have 18 days to start the goal streak.
