Baby Bump in Dieting Plans

So, the day after I decided to start over my Spark People page, my husband and I were pleasantly surprised to find out that we're pregnant. We wanted this, of course, but now that means that I can't lose the weight I had wanted to lose before conceiving. I do still want to lose a few pounds to have a healthier pregnancy but I need to talk to my doctor about it first...Since I'm in my first trimester, I should lose weight just by proper portion control...hopefully the doctor will have some information that will help me reach my goal or at least help get the weight off after delivery...

    That happened to me the first time I tried dieting! haha At least you were already prepping for a healthy body! Now just keep it up throughout your pregnancy and you'll be feeling great! Best wishes!

    When you're pregnant, the goal will be to not gain as much weight;losing weight while pregnant is generally not a good thing! Definitely talk to your doctor, and check out Babyfit.com, Sparkpeople's sister site for pregnant and nursing moms.

    Either way, there is NOTHING wrong with eating healthier and making sure you're got a balanced diet... you only need about 500 extra calories a day for the baby, so that's easy to maintain, and you should be able to use the tools here to keep fromgaining 50+pounds. :)

    Congratulations! I'm sure that if you are eating healthy, you will lose/not gain much. I know the same thing happened to me a few years back, my doc said don't lose anything! Enjoy this time... it is awful. But also, the most amazing experience!
