A Tough Challenge

Monday, April 29, 2013

Yesterday's challenge was to close the kitchen after dinner. How simple! How challenging!!

I am in the habit of enjoying a snack in the evening. There is absolutely no reason for it other than a) I'm just sitting and watching TV, b) I always do it. Neither of those are good reasons to be eating.

I discovered though that my evening snack is a powerful habit. It was on my mind a.l.o.t. But, I've overcome powerful habits before and I know I can do it again. I will do it again.

Ahh! I believe I have just met "Janet, the bad habit Conqueror". You will prevail. I use a simple commitment to give me time to think about what I'm doing - I must drink a glass of water before I open the frig or pantry. (Sometimes I feel like I slosh when I walk - ha ha)

If ANY of my friends can meet a challenge, it is you!! How enlightening these challenges are...we might otherwise continue those habits totally unaware. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I think you picked a good time of year to work on breaking this habit when you can be outside and active in the evenings. It is the long winter evenings that find me wandering back and forth to the kitchen. I know you can conquer this now that you've put your mind to it! emoticon

I am an evening snacker too....and the "no eating after 7pm" challenge was one of the ones I failed miserably at. You are so strong though....I'd bet you can do this!

Good luck with that. I didn't start the evening snack habit until after Steve died. My DH always used to have an evening snack and would offer to get me one, but I very rarely accepted, when he died it was like I had to continue his tradition...
Erik, now, brushes his teeth when he's done eating for the day, and will not eat after brushing them. Me, I'd brush them again, but not my son.

I wish you well on your challenge.
