It's Under There

Saturday, April 27, 2013

I have been extending myself to work harder during strength training class. Sometimes my husband is the one leading the exercises, and while giving everyone instructions about lifting arms and legs for Sea Turtles, Supermans, Y-raises and T-raises, he says "You should basically be balanced on your belly button." Of course he's teasing. Maybe.

Anyway, today I was able to keep my whole rib cage off the floor. And I could keep my thighs up most of the time, too.

Hey, I do have core strength! I have way too much fat sitting on top, but it's under there!

That is fantastic! One thing I discovered was that I had a ton of core strength as well; after all, I was one who always kept my stomach sucked in as much as possible. :)

Our workout class meets at a church which functions as kind of a community center. Two certified trainers supervise the program, which is open to families, singles, anyone. The trainers initially designed an array of exercise routines and taught us all how to do them; now the trainers are not there every session, and some workouts are led by class members who receive ongoing instruction from the trainers. So I would call my husband a peer instructor. Actually he is very good at keeping a balance of focused, energetic pace and still everyone being able to adapt to his or her own level of fitness! He does not have a gestapo style when he is the one leading class, but what he requires of himself is uncompromising, so that definitely motivates me to give it my best! Yes, what a blessing to me, an amazing resource truly in ALL areas!

Is your husband a fitness instructor? You know how I feel about them -- I refer to them as FITNESS NAZIS!!! But wow, if he is, what a great resource he is for you!!!

Congrats on finding your core strength. It only gets better and better!

Your colorful palette on your background is representative of the new ways you are thinking!! The more I do, the more I can do. What else is in the colors of your mind?

I read something today that made me think of you (and me): Creativity is giving yourself permission to make mistakes. Isn't that great?

emoticon emoticon Way to inspire me to keep pushing. I was trying to do those bananas the other day and through my struggle was thinking I was never going be able to do this. I just need to persevere like you have been doing and I'll improve as well.

Good for you. I will have to try to Superwoman it tonight before bed and see if I can find some core muscle under there too.
