RTFM, might be good advice in there!

So almost 2 weeks into my low carb adventure, I got far enough into the New Atkins to find that if you're doing this without meat, they recommend starting with more carbs.

30g isn't that much more than 20g when compared to a typical day before this change, but it means I'm not so constrained. My daily average had been about 25 grams, so I'm doing great instead of not-so.

I lost 9 pounds very quickly (the water used in processing and storing carbs) and it's been slow since then. I'm not sure if I'm stalled, or just building back all the muscle that slipped away when I wasn't working out. UPS just delivered a box that has a body composition analyzer in it, so that's my next project.

These are less accurate than scales, and nerd that I am I'm going to be reading up on the sources of variation. I probably won't be able to stop myself from doing some sort of validation of the performance. Even if you don't have a standard "think" to measure, you can learn a lot about how a measurement tool works by studying the variation of repeat measurements. I promise not to do the statistics, but I may produce a chart emoticon

I'm amazed to find myself doing this. I haven't read the old Atkins book yet (found it cheap on Amazon, bought it also) but I note the new version emphasizes this is a permanent shift in diet if you'd like to keep the weight off. And it would be horrifically bad to keep eating like this while also deceiving myself about how many little carb-ish bits I've snacked.

I've also got friends who achieved great weight loss and let it all go on Atkins and other low carb plans. But what I've seen is that they just lost weight until they decided to go back to eating their prior way, and they stopped exercising to boot. So, all the Spark-losophies apply too. Keep on keeping on!

I have quite a few friends who have been on this diet, nearly all lost weight the first time. But they all put it back on!

Some of them tried again and were ill, I won't say it was the diet but none lost the same amount of weight on the second time round.

I have followed SP and I am almost at my goal but it is hard to loose the last 500 grams.

I wish you luck on this
