Yummy Root Beer :)

Tuesday, April 23, 2013

I put pork in the crock with some root beer and tomorrow going to pull it and add some bbq.
I hear its really good this way, so going to try it.
Taking it over to my brothers to have dinner with them and the kids :)
My other brother offered to keep mowing the law for the rest the summer and ask if would fill his gas tank every other time. So YES PLEASE.
And he also asked if him and his wife could make a garden over here because we have lots of empty space for it and I said YES.
So now once its done we will have fresh vegs and BONUS will get to see brother more :)

I'm so blessed that God give me 2 great brothers.
So with the pork thing, I was thinking of using either buns or buritto shells?
any other suggestions or any sides that would go good with either of those?

Sounds like a great bunch of brothers!

I've never heard of cooking meats using root beer. I hope it turns out wonderfully for you. And for what to serve it on, depending on the age of the children, maybe think BOTH! Open sandwich ability for the adults and burrito shells for kids so you can fold it over and reduce spillage.

'm loving all the ideas for sides. A nice 3-bean salad would go nicely as well and it can be eaten warm or cold.

    Enjoy yourself! emoticon

I think that it is wonderful that your brothers are being supportive of you. And I am so thankful that one will be mowing your lawn and planting a garden. You will indeed have a bonus on more time, and fresh vegetables.

How wonderful that your brother offered to do the mowing for a bit of gasoline. And praise the Lord for plenty of ground that you can have the benefit of fresh veggies without all the work that goes with a garden. emoticon

I'm guessing that "burrito shells" are what I call taco shells. If you go that route (and it sound GOOD), hard shells have fewer calories than soft shells. But if you plan your day's nutrition around it, soft shells aren't bad.

I agree: cole slaw (without a LOT of mayo), corn on the cob, baked beans (again, calorie planning) all sound yummy to me! Enjoy.

And let us know how the root beer in the crock turns out.

I love eating pulled pork on rolls, but burrito shells are tasty too. We always pair it with cob corn or watermelon

I am happy to see things are going well with you!
As for the subject of the pulled pork: I would go with buns, you can always do an opened faced sandwich if you are trying to cut the calories or carbs down some. For a side dish I would make cole slaw, potato salad or even a regular salad. Corn on the cob would be tasty also. Pulled pork does sound tasty.
