Archery (follow-up)

Monday, April 22, 2013

I had a wonderful time on Saturday. The day started cold, but turned beautiful.
I have once again learned my yearly lesson about sunscreen. Use it!
My face and neck are sporting a sunburn.

On the bright side I won the Roving Range competition at my current ranking level. I used to be a higher rank before a long hiatus, and this shows me I need to get the higher rank back. I felt a little bad actually because I was afraid that maybe I should have shot in a higher group, but the man running the competition (who also taught me to shoot) re-assured me that I had been fairly categorized and won my prize fairly.
It really felt good and makes me want to put greater effort into improving my practice scores and getting back to where I was. Time and distance are the real real reason I cannot always make it to practice.
I really only feel competitive with myself (as it should be) and I love trying to top my own last best score.
There is nothing like the satisfying thunk of an arrow as it sink itself into a target!
