Thought and Prayer for Monday, April 22, 2013

Monday, April 22, 2013

If we are to truly be our brother’s keeper, we should watch out for our friends. The devil is so eager to tempt us and take us down the wrong path. He will stop at nothing to get our friends on the wrong path as well. We can stay strong in God’s word and know that being our brother’s keeper means to gently bring them back to God. We can do this with kindness, love and understanding. We can be our brother’s keeper by showing them the love that God shows us when we get on the wrong path.

2 Timothy 2:24-26 “A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people. Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth. Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we pray with all our hearts that You will keep us in line with doing what You want by allowing the Holy Spirit to work through us and to guide us. We also pray that You will keep us aware of what our friends are doing so we can be our brother’s keeper. We want to help them to live as they should for You as You have instructed us to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

When we are true friends, we will gently help others get back on God’s path.

Knowing what is right and wrong can only be learned from God’s word.

We have to know what God wants us to do before we can help others do the right thing.

God wants us to know that we should not argue but be patient and kind with those who are difficult.

A friend is one who helps others through both actions and prayer. What can we do today to help a friend who may be going down the wrong path?

1 Timothy 2:1 “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.” (NLT)
