Juice fast day 10

Wow double digit days for me now. Yesterday was really easy, I just woke up feeling really energized and fantastic overall. We decided to do a 4km hike, which was quite steep for the majority of the route. I was winded, but it felt good to push myself-something I haven't done for over a year. I have a fear about doing this since part of my illness has been heart palpitations and chest pain, which makes me afraid to get my heart going.

This started to become a real problem for me two years ago when I was at the gym. I was doing my usual winter workout, which was 45 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of weights. After the first half of my cardio, I started having pain in my chest, which I thought was just my lungs burning or something, but it didn't go away when I started my cool down. My heart rate didn't drop either and I started to panic because I had a racing pulse even though I wasn't working hard anymore. I started to panic and luckily I went to the front desk and told them something was wrong before I fainted.

Since that day, I have been afraid to push myself physically, and the handful of times that I went to the gym after, we're stressful and ended up with me leaving after a few minutes with anxiety. I now know it was my thyroid, but at the time I was terrified.

So I see yesterday's hike as a win for me. I made it to the top, without getting too nervous, recognizing the slightly lightheadedness as due to my exertion and not some problem with my heart. It passed when I slowed my pace and everything seemed normal. I felt so good about it that we went on another walk down to the tidal pools later in the afternoon with the puppy.

I resisted a lot of temptation yesterday. I had my morning juice, and expected to be back by 1:00pm-but in fact we stayed out until 4:30. We took a drive up the coast and at the end we came to a restaurant overlooking the ocean. Usually we would have stopped and grabbed lunch, but we just sipped from our water bottles and drive back. We also passed our favorite Saturday afternoon hang out on the way back. Generally we would stop in for some deep fried appys and a couple beers, and socialize with our friends. This time we just noted that it looked busy, and kept driving.

In the evening we had a tomato vegetable juice and watched a movie.

I lost 1.2 pounds-bringing my total 12.2 pounds. I'm looking forward to two weeks-my halfway.
