I'm having difficulty staying focused on my weight loss while also motivating my husband. Unfortunately, his family and my parents are not healthy and not open to getting healthy. I don't have a bubbly, encouraging type personality to always be the positive reinforcement that he needs. I wonder if one person in your corner is enough to overcome a much larger environment of people with unhealthy habits. I have made sure to tell my husband several times in the past few days (since he realized he could go down a pants size {yea!}) that I'm proud of him and he's doing great, but it tires me.

Welcome new people, Join teams, blog, join challenges, blog, be excited, blog. And did I mention: blog? The future fabulous you will want to look back at your journey and will want to encourage others!! When the excitement wanes (it WILL!!) put down your pom poms and lurk in the background, (but don't leave and don't do too much damage) and wait for the tide to turn...pick up your oars and keep rowing.

    You can do this!!

“Change takes time. It takes time for the seeds to begin growing within, time to understand the process, time for the growth to mature, and time for the old self to die and fall away.” -Bryant McGill

I am guessing you do the shopping and cooking. So with that fixing healthy foods and keeping healthy snacks in the house is a good start to helping him (while he is at home). Encourage him to go for a walk with you.

"Bravo" for encouraging him; and I know how tiring that can be. My hubby is a snack-a-holic and I have been through many attempts to lose weight and keep it off. Encourage him, yes, but remember, whether he keeps it up or not, YOU are important and your health is, too, so just keep plugging at it and what you picture in your mind will materialize!! Sorry that relatives aren't on the bandwagon...kind of face that hubby brings all kinds of unhealthy things in and my friends don't understand why I want to eat and live a healthy lifestyle...but we get "sparked" here and we need to be "sparks" wherever we are. When they see how happy and healthy and energetic you are, maybe it will "spark" them to make changes, too. Welcome to Sparkpeople and if you are new to the site or if you ever have any questions, please let me know. If I don't know the answer, I will certainly help you find it! If you would like to friend me, I would be honored. emoticon
