The How's and Why's Of Trekking, The Bibbulmun Track

Saturday, April 20, 2013

We are winding up our 3rd week on the Bibbulmun Track, and look forward to starting week 4. As I sit here and relish every inspiring sight that we have come upon, I am in total awe! Every creature we have ran into emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon has been an awesome experience.

I think this one stole my heart and can you see anything as beautiful as this sunset!

The one thought that kept coming to my mind as we hiked was where does this country find its names? So unique! We traveled through Mumballup, a very small town, then we spent the night at the Noggerup Campsite. It was very rustic there and I think I saw my first redback. emoticon in the outhouse. Joan and CJ refused to go into it after that spotting. Let me tell you, they were miserable before the next pit stop! We were almost lost in the Virgin Jarrah Forrest. I must say it is beautiful. Yes, I got lost from the others, and Kacey had to come rescue me on her ATV. I was very happy to see the group and get to Balingup. (why does everything end in up when Australia is Down ---under. See why I keep thinking about it! LOL

OK, now Balingup is quite the town. Here we will stay for two days. I will write about it later.

So on to the why's. I chose to do this virtual challenge to 1st of all, challenge myself. I never had any idea we would have so much fun. And most of all, I had no idea that EMMABE1 (our fearless leader) from The Chair Exercise Team would so involve herself to make this so very special. She has went beyond the call of duty to make this a journey of a lifetime for all who participate. She has prepared all the tools we would need for such a journey. That has been what made it so real. She spent all that time to make this enjoyable for US!!!
It does take time, but I am seeing the benefits of it. I have to ask you, are you happy with the way your body is changing? Are you getting more healthy? Are you willing to change, and MOST OF ALL, do YOU really want to change? If the answer is yes then sign up for some of these challenges. But if you sign up, Know that it is a commitment to your team leader, your team and more importantly YOU! When you sign up, (I know it was with good intentions) and then don't follow through, it hurts everyone, not just you. If our child signs up for the football team or dancing lessons, etc. we want them to go to every practice. Same here or less illness gets in the way, we want you to be faithful to yourself. It matters, no matter how small the challenge or how involved, like this one. Think enough of yourself to see it through. It is worth it. I am walking in my home now without my walker. I still use something in public but at home I am free. It feels awesome and I owe it all to the increased exercise from this challenge.
2nd thing is I have learned so much and made some wonderful new friends emoticon

Now I am off for my spa treatment in Balingup!

My first thought was "how embarrassing" Not that you upset me - but your overwhelming praise. Remember I enjoyed doing it too!!
The fact that you are walking freely at home is reward for me - what will you be doing after this and the next 6 weeks =-- turning summersaults maybe!!
Actually several of the members have said they are increasing exercise and feeling better in some way due to the trek!! That is sooooooo good!!
Maybe those roos in the sunset were the ones outside my window last evening in the sunset!! You never know!!

Good for you for following through on the Trek & enjoying it so much. It's amazing what exercises more can do for us. It sounds like Ann outdid herself on this trek as you describe it all so beautifully and it almost seems real to you.
