Success while Traveling... It's all in the planning...

Wednesday, April 17, 2013

Well, I leave tomorrow for a business trip to Branson, Mo.. I've prepared some food that I'll be taking in a cooler (just in case)... I've called ahead to a CrossFit gym (called a "box") and made arrangements to workout on Friday (my regularly scheduled workout). My coach has provided a workout to perform... I'm hoping to be able to carve out some time on Saturday to hike and explore the area... that will be my "applying my fitness to fun". Hope the weather's nice. I feel like I've planned for my success. So, given any unanticipated hiccups, all should be well.

My workout tonight got cut short due to Tornado Warnings... but regardless.. my perceived exertion seemed very high even though the Met Con (metabolic conditioning) portion of the workout was only 10 minutes, I spent the 5th longest time in zone 5 (HR 148-165). Interesting.

I lost another pound (33lbs in all) ! Yeah! People are really noticing and I find myself being such a zealot for the Paleo way of eating and CrossFit. People are always asking me about my workouts and to explain CrossFit. The only way I know to describe CrossFit is that it's like the "last chance workout" from the Biggest Loser... at least the intensity is the same. The thing I think is cool is that - yes, I'm sweating and huffing and puffing and completely zapped when I complete a workout. But you know what? So are the very fit people at the gym! I feel a certain comraderie with them - because although our fitness levels are all different, the intensity is the same.. the effort, the same.. I like that. I also like that everyone encourages everyone else to do THEIR best - claps, yells encouraging things - It's cool. Tonight was my 20th workout and I'm completely hooked. I love pushing myself.. I love the surprise of how strong I'm getting... I love the SWEAT!... You know how it is when you get excited about something.. you just want everyone to experience the same thing.. well, that's me right now.

Here's the workout stats:

37lbs to go to meet my "zip line" goal weight

Well, I must admit/tell you--I've looked into Cross Fit training here. The only thing for me now is to get the $$ together to do it. And you have linked/posted a few good recipes! :)

I'm really proud of you Annie. Your attitude about everything has changed...the sweating, the eating...everything. Maybe you partially explained it in your post about the hunger pangs, and maybe partially in the post about your trip. It's a combination of many things, I think. The main thing though is--You Are DOING IT!!!!!!! You go! and don't ever, ever stop believing in yourself!

You've got a great plan! You could easily have "skipped" that workout and I can't tell you how much I admire your absolute dedication! You're IN this to win and you WILL!! What great habits you're developing and so much insight.

I'm just in awe .. to tell you the truth! emoticon

Have a safe and wonderful trip.

Just saw your comment about the zip line weight. I did that too and wow! was it great. So amazing standing there realizing that you have to risk everything and just jump. What a great metaphor for life, and weight loss and SP. I hope you'll post a picture when you do it.

    Take care
