My daughter ran the Boston Marathon this year. She finished at 3 hours 24 minutes and had just left the family meeting area when the bombs went off. I am so thankful she and her husband are safe. So very, very thankful. She was able to call me with a lot of difficulty (it took her somewhere around a dozen tries as phone lines were jammed), but managed to get me before I saw the news reports. My husband however, wasn't so fortunate. He was standing in a customers home in front of the TV and was trying to calculate our daughters finishing time and the time of the first bomb detonation when I called him to let him know she was safe. My husband is a strong man, but he nearly wept with relief when I told him she had called and was okay. Sorry folks, but I'm a bit weepy thinking about this. Just keep praying for all the injured and for those that lost loved ones. And give your loved ones an extra hug and tell them how much they mean to you.

I am so happy your daughter was unharmed. What a terrible thing to have happened. I hope this will not ruin this event as it brings people together and it would be a shame to let such hatred win. Your poor husband, he must have been so worried. All the people that couldn't finish and those that did feeling so terrible about it all.

One blogger on Sparkpeople said to focus on all the helpers in the situation rather than the destructive act itself. It shows the good side of the human spirit.
