Meeting Calorie Goal vs Meeting that Goal WELL!!!

I had a revelation this week.....and it might not be news to some of you, but it was a huge red arrow pointing at the scale for me. You can meet that calorie goal day after day and if you are eating calories your body doesn't need to be healthy, the scale WILL NOT MOVE. That is a number.....but the way you got to that number really matters. My story......

My husband finally got sick of my comments about my pants getting looser, my chins reducing in number etc and decided to get on the program with me. But, he is a huge fan of the South Beach style of weight loss. A complete and total removal of all things white, although we never take fruit away from the menu. And since he is prone to gluten problems and has ulcers, he does really feeel so much better without too many grain based carbs.

I am more than happy to do whatever the guy wants, and we had already stopped eating out more than once every two weeks so LET's GO!!!!

And I lost 3 pounds the first week.......................hmm
mmmmmm, I had been working out and meeting my calorie goal every single day. But, rice and pasta and other white carbs are processed and frankly, no one needs that kind of highly unnatural food in their lives. So, once I was filling up my journal with fruit, veggies and protein along with more beans and raw food, I found that I was rarely hungry, and I don't seem to crave sugar as much. Um, isn't that what the South Beach plan is kinda about????? I also had days when I ran short of calories later in the day or had a 600 calorie lunch without meaning to. But I can and do eat a bunch of minestrone for not very many calories,......bonus fiber and everythinge else. I actually have had a couple of days when I have been under.

Now, that hubby of mine lost 8 pounds that first week and I think that stinks, but he needs to get some weight off so I cheered out loud and though a tiny liitle bad thing about him in my mind. :)

Staying on the fruit, veggie, protein plan for a couple more weeks until making those bright crunchy amazing choices are easier.
