Hitting the Road Again - Viva Las Vegas!

Tuesday, April 16, 2013

Our daughter is having spinal surgery and needs lots of TLC while she recuperates, so we are on our way. We will leave for Las Vegas on Thursday. I will look on the internet for sightseeing opportunities between between Vancouver, BC and LV. The plan is to be there by Monday.

While I am in LV, I want to get back into a daily walking routine. It's been difficult enough for me to do it at home, but really need to do it. I am losing weight with dieting, but really need to kick up the exercise. I found a site that shows the sunrise and sunset times, so I can schedule my walks for when it's not too hot.

I just mapped my walk to the casino and it's 5K round trip! I hope to get there to Starbuck's for coffee and back before it gets hot in the morning.

What a good momma you are to travel to be with your daughter. I'm wishing her all the best. Good job on mapping out your walks before the heat of day takes over. Here in my neck of the woods (SW FL) it's 100% humidity at 7 a.m. and the temp can be close to 80...puff..puff thank goodness for my indoor treadmill! emoticon emoticon

Have a good and safe trip. I hope the surgery goes well, and that you get your walking in. It shouldn't be too hot there yet...and hey, it's a "dry heat", LOL! It always cracks me up in Phoenix when it's 120+ and they say that. emoticon

you're great for taking care of her , I had my best friend taking care of me when I had my gallbladder surgery , my mom just got depressed , well , it doesn't matter, it was probably an early sign of a mild dementia. emoticon emoticon best mom

Hope all goes well with your DD's surgery and recovery. And yes, Vegas is great for walking... but not once it gets hot! I personally LOVE Vegas, but I imagine you won't be spending much time - or money - in the casinos or at shows. And probably won't have a chance to hit those fancy restaurants... which is probably a good thing! Safe trip!

LV is a great place for walking. I tend to get 7-10 miles per day when in vegas. I am sending positive vibes for your daughter's recovery.

A morning walk this time of the year in LV is nice but it is a long way on the strip from one casino to the next. Go be with your daughter & enjoy each others comfort. Our prayers are with you all.

Lynn, good luck to your daughter with her spinal surgery. I'm sure she will find it most comforting to have her mom there to take care of her and give her lots of TLC. We moms do that best, just as our moms did! No one can take the place of a mother when comfort and love are needed.
I hope you enjoy your road trip to Vegas. I was there 3 years ago for my son's graduation from a school the AF sent him to, and really enjoyed the time there.

If you get a chance before you go back home, and when your daughter is feeling better and able to get out, I highly recommend a restaurant - Rosemarys. I think it's in North Vegas; I know it's definitely off the strip. It's very well known by the locals, and I'm sure you can Google it. One of the best and most memorable meals I've ever eaten!

I also did fairly well playing the penny slots in the MGM Grand, and it was fun. Sorry I can't recommend more, but we were only there for 3 nights.
Hope you enjoy your visit with your daughter!

I was going to tell you not to worry about the heat. It has been quite cool, even in L.V. but I see, by the time you get there, it should warm up nicely. I walked a lot while staying in the CA Desert, and didn't mind the heat at all.
Have a safe trip, I see you are driving, and I hope that all goes well with your daughter. Will keep her in my prayers.
    Take care.

I hope your daughter's surgery goes smoothly. How sweet of you to go and take care of her! I had back surgery a few years ago. For the first three or four days after surgery, I was helpless. I'm thankful that my husband was there to take such good care of me.

I'm not sure how the weather is where you are now, but being down in the warm weather sounds great for walking! The route you have planned out sounds wonderful!

Keep us posted on your progress, as well as your daughter's!
