Running a 5k...Still Plugging Along

I haven't posted in awhile. Things have been really busy. Lots of school, work, things to do, etc. I haven't been doing superb on the eating front, but I'm committed to making this week better and I have been doing well so far. One thing that has been constant and going well, though, it my 5k training.
Last week was fine, and this week is to be my last week before I start running for 30+ minutes straight. Tuesdays, which come after 2 rest days, are always my best days, so I decided to let my body do what it can to see where I really am at and if running straight next week will be feasible. I figured I'd do 5-6 minutes of walking each interval instead of 4. Nope. Instead, I ran for 20 minutes straight and over the whole 40 minutes, only walked for 3.
It was difficult on my muscles, my my lungs and heart could take it no problem. It definitely got harder towards the end and Thursday will definitely have to be an easy day. But I am so proud of what I did today. Am I still scared about running for 35 minutes straight next week? Oh, yeah. But today I did 20. My body is amazing and I'm sure I'll be just fine next week, even if I don't get to 35 minutes straight at 5.5 mph right away.
