As we were pulling into our delivery point just before 9pm last night a young man going too fast and not paying attention rammed into our passenger side fuel tank as we were making a right hand turn. He wasn't hurt until people kept after him to go to the hospital. Both drivers were ticketed...the highway patrolman said he had to give us a ticket too by rule of law so we were up dealing with that until 01:30. The patrolman said to NOT pay the ticket but to take it to a judge because the kid was speeding and ran into us and he was probably going to try to get money out of the accident. His car was only slightly damaged on the driver's side front and the patrolman said a similar abrasion on the passenger side showed "it wasn't his first rodeo". All the professional people involved were very encouraging and kind...beyond professionally kind. We were thankful the kid was only shaken up and not really hurt. We have about $1000 of damage which hurts but it's better than the potential scenarios!!

Since we were going to have dinner after we parked I did pretty well though I am sure I overate some on cashews when we finally got back to the truck. But I did avoid the Nutty Bars and Drumsticks.

Wishing all my SparkFriends a Sparking great day!

Thanks to you all! The state policeman said it was a state law to cite any trucker involved in an accident and let the judge decide. Sigh. We had 5 right side flashers going and there's a sign on the back of the truck that warns it makes wide right turns. There is literally no other way to pull into a narrow drive. Traffic was light and the weather was clear. The kid had to have run the light to have gotten up to the speed was going to leave an 81 foot skid mark because we were purposely the last one through the light as it turned so as to have room to make the turn; it's a regular delivery for us.
