Hiking - Worth the Effort...
Saturday, April 13, 2013
Today was a good day. It was to be the girls' day and it was but it changed slightly. My oldest had to work from 12 to 5. My youngest was at a friend's and my SP friend was not well so couldn't make it over. My step-daughter and I did the shopping and prep for the food. Not low cal for the Antijitos, but the chicken (stuffed with spinach and alla parmigiana)... Here's a few pics...
After dinner - the girls started watching the movie "Flight" and I am up here blogging. I definitely can't watch TV too much as I'm then tempted to munch/drink.
Today would have been my sister's 55th birthday - she passed away just over 4 years ago from her disease - alcoholism. In her honor I affirmed early I would remain AF (alcohol free) but it was a bit of a hike or struggle. At 3pm - that 'witching hour' for me ... I was tempted to go out and get something for us to have to drink, but I talked myself out of it (it wasn't easy either).
Here I sit after 8pm and wrapping up my 6th day in a row AF. While I did not stay in my calorie range - I consider this a victory!!
I'm also going to go downstairs after posting this and get a bit of a workout in to burn some calories, then I'll likely start a new book (Reflected in You by Sylvia Day).
The girls (my step-daughter and eldest) will do the hair thing... and mom will leave them to some sister time.
While the day did not turn out quite as planned, I think in the end I can call it a success. I know I'll wake up feeling pretty great about not giving in to my craving to have that drink.
Here's hoping you all had a wonderful Saturday!
PS - Remember when I went to Barbados I told you that I went riding the horses by the beach... well here's a pic of the man who runs these tours... (he's the one with the hat)... and it's the spot where we spent most of our days and watched many sunsets... warms my heart to see this and brings back warm memories indeed.
