Koalas, Gum Trees, Yellow Kangaroo Paws and Even A Wombat On Our Way To Dwellingup!
Thursday, April 11, 2013
We have finely arrived at Mt. Wells campsite. Sitting on an old stump, Joan and I share about the past 4 days. We have been soaked by a rain storm, trampled through swamps and creeks. We eat our last rations of Beef Stew and are very thankful that tomorrow night will be spent in a real bed with a nice hot shower. I tell Joan I hope there is lots and lots of hot running water.
I saw so many different types of Gum trees today. They are so beautiful in bloom.
This is a lemon scented gum tree and it smells good enough to eat.
and this one is a red flowering gum tree, also known as a Eucalyptus tree also if I understand it right.
All I can say is breath taking!
and this one is known as a Salmon Gum Tree.
Here are a few more flowers we saw and I spotted this yellow kangaroo paw. Isn't it dazzling!
Koalas are so cute and they eat the Eucalyptus or gum tree leaves
And here is a wombat=
We will be staying at Inn Mahogany Creek tomorrow night. I am so excited, Joan, Bonbon and I are sharing the 1 bedroom luxury suite & spa' They agreed to add another bed for us. We are going to enjoy it so much
and here is some food we are going to enjoy! Cured Trout
We look up at the stars and crawl into out tents looking forward to an easy hike tomorrow and reaching Dwellingup. What a great week it has been. Oh I forgot to tell you, we passed the biggest gold mine today. I hear there are a lot of them in these hills. Wouldn't it be fun to go panning for gold!
Sweet Dreams everyone.
This is the other Koala, It is just a baby.
