Day 1: Beginning a lifestyle change

Today as i left the doctors office, I realized that if I didn't make a change soon, then something bad was bound to happen. I decided that I can't be selfish anymore, and need to make a positive change to my lifestyle in the efforts to stay around for my young children. They don't deserve to lose their mother because of making bad health-wise choices.

I am trying to find new ways to motivate myself because past attempts to lose weight and to quit smoking haven't been the best of experiences. I need to change my mindset so that I can succeed this time. As with anything, adjusting to this type of change can be difficult for most people; I am no different. I need to find new ways to remain motivated to continue to stick with this plan though! So far my husband and I are going to work as a team to get the weight off together; however, having a larger support group for the both of us will also be something that we are open to.

    emoticon Remember, men can EASILY drop weight if they follow a low carb diet, so don't be discouraged if he drops 8# in a week and you only manage 2#. I could never exercise with my husband since if we went for a walk, he'd walk so fast I'd have to run and I never found it fun at all. Maybe you can deal with it, but it didn't work for me. My husband is the kind who NEVER gains weight even though he has a thyroid problem and takes a high dose of Synthroid. He can pick up a Rock and have muscles pop out. I couldn't put on muscle if I had to.
