No Thanks!! I'll Stick with SP!!

Thursday, April 11, 2013

I went to a Herbal Magic consultation today - as I was trying to seek ways to get my weight loss going again and I do believe in natural supplements to help... As suspected the program is insanely expensive as they want you to commit for about a year (well that was my case) and the monthly cost of over $400 with an initial startup of over $1200. So while I say "NO THANKS" - I will stick with SP and all it's wonderful FREE tools, support and community, I did learn a few things as she described some parts of the program...

They allow for 1 alcohol/drink per day - as they believe anything you put as a 'no no' food or drink wise will lead to binges... so for me - this would be going back to my success days when I was in the 140s and allowed myself a couple of beers with a gf and salad/bread at East Side Mario's every Friday night.

The supplements they suggested for me - basically things I know about from the health food store - chromium, green tea, and some other vitamins and stuff - but nothing extraordinary. They also give you extras like Ginseng, fiber and a complex B vitamin when you go visit.

She plugged my numbers in and I could reach my goal weight by September if I stuck to my guns and lost 1 to 2 lbs from now till then - and I'm going for it!! On my own with the help of this wonderful community!! The motivation now is that I can do this on my own and the money NOT spent on this program can go towards buying myself a new wardrobe when I attain my goal (with some rewards setup at milestones along the way).

She explained to me that I need to focus on losing a bit first before throwing myself into a major workout program to allow my body the chance to lose some weight which makes sense because right now - I need to focus on cutting out the booze mainly and we all know one goal at a time is best so we don't overwhelm ourselves and end up quitting altogether. So while I do still keep up daily walks on most days, and try to throw in some workouts here and there - the focus for now is to stick to my eating/drinking plan - get a handle on that and then build back the workout regime so it's more regular - but also varied to keep my body guessing.

She talked about making sure you don't always eat the same way, the same thing to avoid plateaus - same with workouts too. I have to get cooking with the SP cookbook and start trying new recipes at least one NEW one per week.

She said I definitely need to work on boosting my metabolism (thus my need to really push for more strength training) as I'm peri-menopausal.

Every 8 weeks the program offers a boost or change up - so maybe doing a cleanse or detox - switching up supplements.

This is a lot of info that I knew ... grasped from here and there... but hearing it in this consultation helped me to realize I can do this if I organize it on my own and coach myself and continue to use SP as my support/accountability place.

It means I don't have to drive anywhere to go meet with someone to weigh in, measure, etc. (and that too - I have all the tools here so I just need to consistently do it and post it here for accountability). I like that with SP I can turn on my computer anytime and seek out advice, read blogs, posts on threads... to get me through just about anything.

So THANKS again SP ... this experience proved to me that I am on the right track and doing the right things ... I have the tools including many SP DVDs as well as others, and SP books - can't wait for the Spark Solution to arrive (got my free DVDs already)... and just get to it!!

emoticon and with their help - this year - by the time my birthday month arrives (September) - I WILL be at goal weight and in a healthy BMI range - for good!!

My cousins wife lost 170 lbs to date using herbal magic. She was morbidly obese and one of those people who I deep down thought would never even attempt to lose weight. She looks fantastic and feels great as well..it cost her alot of money..money that they don't have. I think she will keep it off, hopefully, since she had surgery to remove loose skin, and I applaud her for it. She is now smaller than me so I tease her and pretend to be catty about it and call her "skinny bi$ch" lol. One thing i notice however, is that they didn't seem to steer her towards any sort of muscle building/toning. She looks thin, but not "fit", and actually looks a bit sickly to be honest. Her hair is thinning, she has bags under her eyes and she has no energy at all. She is probably going to be in their canadian commercials soon. I am soo happy for her, because that worked for her. Just like SP works for some, WW for others etc. You have to do what is right for you. You know you can do it...you just have to "do it". Save your money for all the new clothes you will buy and the trips you want to take...lol

I have researched most of the programs out there and they are all expensive. Much healthier to do it ourselves. This one you write about - ouch on the wallet!

You know you're not alone, right? This Herbal supplement lot sound like a bit of a rip-off - I can't see what they're offering that is worth the money they would be charging. There are supplements that can really help but there is so much information out there that you can really help yourself. There's a supplement called Milk Thistle that's really good to support cleansing the liver as you detox your body. Also I really recommend probiotics - plus probiotic foods such as natural yoghurt. My invoice is in the post ;-)

There's quite a bit of evidence to show that taking a simple fish oil supplement of about 1,000 mg daily, can boost muscle mass retention in age 45+ women. Apparently women who worked out weekly, all kept a better muscle mass as they aged, than those who didn't, but those who exercised (I won't say worked out, there's other forms of exercise) AND took fish oils, were better still. emoticon

Same as when I went to the naturopath for the first visit ( although she is helping get rid of inflammation due to arthritis) and she told me stuff and almost all I knew and also gave me supplements, some I knew of some I didn't. But was diligent to what she told me, and I lost 12 lbs in 3 wks and felt great. Can't wait to get back on it totally, as my GP wants to test me for celiac or sensitivity due to a severe itchy rash and bloating and she ageed so back on wheat for time being.
Granted I don't have grain ( normally) no sugar and no dairy for now. So I don't have my normal 2 cookies that can lead to 4. Luckily it didn't bother me at all, I had no cravings or wanting any sugar or anything once I got off the wheat. The carb cravings came right back but has taken till the past few days to want sugar stuff and just saying no cos was oing to get my blood done today but have to be home till 11 at least for dad so not sure as I am a need my breakfast girl.
Good luck and you knwo what to do, just a matter of doing it.
