Tearing it down

Thursday, April 11, 2013

I am excited about tearing down an old porch from our house. Funny thing is I have wanted it down for 24yrs it has a floor that sloops downward so strange.
Now that it is really going to happen I have a sadness about it being gone.
I have a porch swing on it that my Dad made. I have special shortlegged chairs my dad made especially for this silly porch. I have fed many cats on this porch and birthed a few on it too. My children and grandchildren have jumped, colored, played games and had lots of fun on this crazy made porch.
The last thing I have spent many hours of prayer and bible study on this porch. So why am I so sad this old familiar porch defect and all is going to be destroyed.
Sometimes it is just so hard to let go of stuff. Junk food is my point. It is not good for you, there are much better snack choices that are really tasty.
Breaking up with the familiar is hard to do but in the long run it will be worth it.

It isn't the porch but the memories - you will have those forever. It is hard to let things go but I am sure you will make new memories on the new porch. Isn't this such the way of life? It is always bittersweet. Hang in there.
