Still buzzing

Thursday, April 11, 2013

Wow what a day. It started out with what should have been an easy enough, uncomplicated day but didn't end up that way.

To begin with, my mom got paid today and decided that she wanted to get some winter clothes. She can never find anything she likes, and her elderly friend always brings her clothes that never seem to fit right. Which means "enter Celeste." You see, finding clothes in a busy store is my forte. I can stand in a shop doorway and know whether what we are looking for is in there or not.
Its called "spatial sense." My crowning glory to date was being on holiday in Namibia (across the border) and finding an outfit for my sister to wear to her sons wedding - in a store in Namibia, and sending her the codes and sizes she would require. She went into the store in her town, asked for the items (still in the store room as yet to be unpacked) gave the sizes she would require, did not try them on.....and they fitted like a glove and matched her husbands shirt and tie to perfection LOL. Funny gift/talent to have, but it comes in handy when my mom and sister who cant see an elephant standing in the same room as them - need clothes shopping done.

My mom offered to take me for breakfast in swap of being her eyes...
great. We left at 8am and I especially didn't eat because of going for breakfast FIRST. Instead, FIRST we fetched her friend, then we bought a jersey. Next we went to the mall and found some thermal underwear, and a skirt, and some shoes and when I look again its 11am and I still hadn't eaten and I was starrrrving. We finished the shopping and my mom politely asked if I was joining my sister and her kids at the coffee shop or going home with her? Huh what happened to breakfast? I didn't want to put pressure on her, so I joined my sister and her married kids.
Sadly they were not at a coffee shop that is prepared to work around any form of dieting and I didn't have loads of money on me, so I ended up ordering their breakfast special which is 1 slice of rye toast, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, fried tomato, fries, onion rings and sausage (which is cheap and includes coffee) and just ate what I could which was the egg, rye toast and tomato and left the rest which actually worked fine. My nephew ate the balance, but he can afford all that stuff, hes trim as anything.

Breakfast done and about to head on home to do some housework, but instead I got a text message from the traffic department to say that my new drivers license had just arrived. Oh great, that meant getting a lift to hubbies office to get the car and then all the way out to the outskirts of town where the traffic dept is. Signed for my new license....loved that my face looks thinner on the photo than the last license I had.

On my way back into town, I got a call to say my hubbies boots he sent in for repair were ready so I first went there only to discover that the shop doesn't have a speed-point machine....drat....cash only. I barely ever carry cash on me. So now I had to find an ATM to draw the cash. Luckily one was only 4 blocks away, but I had to stand in a queue. Half an hour later, I had the boots. Very nice job done too I must say.

By now I was super hungry again for lunch, and nowhere near home. My sister and I stopped in at a chicken place and bought a single piece of chicken which is baked in a rotisserie rather than fried. I asked for a piece of breast meat, the assistant answered that they had no breast pieces left. Oh well, give me any piece then. I opened mine...its breast. LOL Oh well great stuff, its what I wanted in the first place. I also bought an apple.

Before leaving the chicken place, I noticed the car was beginning to show signs of overheating....so off to the garage to have them put water in. Tsk tsk my husband has had the vehicle for a week.......oh well, at least it was done now.

In the interim, my sisters hubby phoned to say that he left an important document he needed in her bag and their company vehicle had just left, so would we mind dropping it off with him.....back across town to deliver the document, only to find, its a document he needed to sign and then would we mind taking it to the police to have it legalized again all the way across town. Oh goodness another lengthy queue. Got that done and taken back to her hubby.

So far my breakfast and lunch were fine, but I was starting to spin with all the other "stuff."

Finally got home at 4.30pm and had to speedily clean my house, get laundry on the line etc because I have folks coming over to watch a movie called Hidalgo. Its a wonderful movie based on a true story about a race across the desert and all the drama that goes with that.

So what should have been 8-9am breakfast, another 90 minutes for shopping and home ended up being an all day affair. But my moms friend was so sweet, she sent home a hat for me she had knitted some time ago to thank me for helping her pick out some items also.
This is the purple hat (never owned a purple hat before) and my new jacket that FITS ME NOW.

I am tired though and have no more smiles left for this photo lol.

Shame the one thing I did forget, was I was supposed to be taking a pioneer sister and friend out for a fish dinner at Ocean Basket....but I have postponed that till next week, I just can't run around anymore after being out all day. I am a home body and I dont enjoy being out and about all day long. That being said, I've just had a call from hubby to say "please fetch me from work" OH WELL HERE I GO AGAIN emoticon
