Now that the Fitbit is back, I've been looking at the numbers. There are some numbers that are stupidly obvious - like when I'm in the office all day my steps are a hell of a lot lower. Other numbers should have been obvious but I never thought about them - like I live in a three story house so I climb a lot of stairs.
It took me a couple of days to figure out the sleep thing - that you have to hold down the button and tell it you're going to sleep - but now I've tracked it for two nights. I can't find anything online about what's normal, maybe because normal is so relative. Two nights ago I woke up 34 times, and last night it was 25. That seems like a lot. And I know the Fitbit can't tell when you're really awake, but it can tell when you're tossing and turning. I'm intrigued as to how my 'sleep efficiency' can be 90+% when you wake up that much. And, oddly enough, it was 93% when I woke up 34 times and 92% when I woke up 25 times, which seems wrong.
I know it's not the most sensitive sleep tracker in the world, and two days isn't much data to work with, but I'm going to keep watching it and see if I can find any patterns. I see people online saying they wake up 3-5 times a night ... not 35! I've known for ages that I toss and turn a lot. No one wants to share a bed with me. :) Maybe I should look into a sleep study to see what's really going on.

Anyway, this week I went to my running group on Monday, rowing and ST on Tuesday, and running group on Wednesday. My legs and butt are SORE! Yesterday we did three sets of 10 minutes and I managed to run the entire time aside from a one minute walk break at the end. I felt really good about that, even if it was at a freakishly slow pace. My goal is to run a whole 5K without stopping and I feel like I'm on my way. The track workouts I think are really helping, and my coach is great at helping me with my form. I didn't realize I was running with my shoulders up by my ears ... sheesh, relax!
But I'm taking today off from exercise to give my legs a chance to recover. I did too many lunges and squats on Tuesday and I'm sure the run didn't help. I'm stretching like crazy whenever I can and I'll be back at it tomorrow - other cardio and ST again.
