What comes in will come out

Thursday, April 11, 2013

My dad used to tell us that whatever we put into ourselves is what will be coming out. He wasn't talking about food (although we used to repeat another saying "Fat eats fat"). He was referring to what we read, who we hang out with, what we watch and....what we hear and say about ourselves.

I found myself the past few days verbally succoming to that little voice inside of me that tells me I'm fat. I've even repeated this to my workout buddies, my hubby, my daughter and my sister. And, then....I started to believe it. The result created depression.

Whether true or not, it is vital that I give myself positive messages that remind me of the beautiful, mature, experienced woman that I've become over the years. Remember when they used to tell us to stand in front of the mirror and repeat positive messages about ourselves? It is time to reinforce those positive messages because we really are what we tell ourselves we are.

Your blog is wonderful! Thank you for taking the time to read one of my positivity blogs then commenting on it. If not for that, I wouldn't have come to check out your page and read your blog.

It is all to easy to see only our negatives, and forget all the positive things - about the person we are, about how others see us, about all we are blessed with in our lives. It has only been in the past few days that I have started to notice these things, the good things in my life, and within myself, and to turn my back on the negatives. It wasn't till I made a conscious decision to make myself write a blog each day, for at least a month, focusing on the good things in each day, that I started to do so. I had to search back through that first day to find something to be grateful for, but once I thought of the first thing, the second soon followed, then the third, and so on.

In just three days of writing about the things in my day I have reason to be grateful for, I have discovered that is is far easier to ignore the not-so-good things while paying more attention to the moments which made me happy. As you wrote, it IS time to remind ourselves of the positives that lie within each of us.

May you find many, many positives in each and every day.
