the way i feel

It has been a rainy day here. I haven't accomplished much today. I spent most of the day in bed. Feeling really depressed today. I hate it when I feel like this. Not only am I depressed but today is also not a good day because I am in a lot of pain because of my Achilles tendon. I feel so frusturated and discouraged.

    emoticon to you, sweet Tanya! Who wouldn't feel discouraged and frustrated if they had depression and pain from an injured Achilles tendon? Sometimes, and on a day like that, a little rest and relaxation are in order. You're going through a stressful "down" time, but you've already taken action to start to turn things around, and I applaud you for that. With the sure knowledge that things are going to get better, just keep taking it one day at a time, one moment at a time...and it's in each moment that there lies that little seed of growth for positive, happier change. emoticon Susan

    My Dearest Sunshine,

    1. the weather does not help.
    2. being in pain does not help.
    3. Your breakthrough may be part of the depression. Please please know you will heal , inside and out. Just keep working at it.

    I googled rehab for achilles tendon this site looks like they have lots of ideas from bring down the inflammation to strengthening.

    Rainy days with an injury or painful condition are the pitz! I'm aure your doctor has told you what to do to help the pain, and that there is not a lot you can do physically. But if you put a little music on and try some moves in a chair where there is no pressure on your tendon then it will elevate your mood and ease your depression. Fell better soon! emoticon

    Sorry you are feeling down - rainy, gray weather can be quite depressing. Sorry to hear you haven't accomplished much - but I'm assuming the pain you are feeling is a big reason for that. You have accomplished making your daily blog - you go girl! Aside from that - I've never had an injury with my Achilles Tendon - it sounds painful. I hope it gets better soon. Are you doing any type of exercises to help the tendon - I mean, did the doctor prescribe any? Do you have any physical therapy for it?

    It is not easy when you can't do a whole heck of a lot - but hopefully the time will pass quickly. Try to do whatever you can for the pain - and try to distract yourself from it - keep your mind busy - read a book, watch a movie, anything you can do will help. If you spend too much time thinking about the pain - it will feel worse.

    I would think anyone in your situation would feel rather disappointed and discouraged too - it is not easy being tied down - especially when you are making it a goal to be more active. Besides, being active can really help improve your mood. When you aren't in pain - see if you can do some of those seated exercises. If you have weights, do exercises for your upper body.

    However - on those days when you are in a lot of pain - use that as a time to heal yourself. You have a lot going on in your life - take that time to write how you feel (you said you like to write poetry, I believe) - take that time to do something special for yourself (because this will help the way you feel) - take time to do something that you enjoy (but perhaps don't get to do often) and take the time to make good decisions about how to take care of your body. Don't let the stress - the pain - the sadness - help you reach out for comfort in foods. Instead - truly feed your body with things that will nurture you (remember the feeling of chicken soup when you have a cold? That's the feeling I'm talking about). Just do something for you - and remind yourself that you deserve it - because you do.

    It is definitely difficult to deal with both depression and pain at the same time. I hope you get to feeling better soon!
