A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste

Tuesday, April 09, 2013

The condo guys are at it again;
Less than 24 hrs notice that they are repaving the parking lot.
They put up a sign this afternoon, only by the mailboxes door,
that we have to move our cars by 7:30AM...or be stuck there until it dries.
If you missed the notice ... you're out of luck.
These are the same folks that turn the water off and don't tell you.
I actually walked passed the guy today who didn't bother to say anything.
I'm grateful my neighbor came over to let me know.

I just keep shaking my head in disbelief. ... Oh well, what next.

It was beautiful here today...perfect spring weather. have a good evening

When it comes time for the parking lots to be cleaned from all the sand during the winter - we are allowed to park on the grass. But, again a notice is given a week in advance...Good luck...

Yes, sometimes you just need to shake your head and keep moving on right?

It was really warm here today. :) It is spring alright.

Have you thought about all of your neighbors forming a protest committee?

It's pretty much the same if you own a single family home and they decide to repave... or decide to turn off the water or the (worst of all) cable... OK, so the cable isn't really the worst, but I do my work on-line, so it does mean going into the office!!

Hope you escaped before the deadline!

I work 12 hour night shifts starting on Wed. Found an Email sent out on a Monday, saying the entry gates would be closed starting Wed after hours, so they could do some renovations. One gate would be left open at a time, with all of them open weekday dayshifts. Er, surprise? Fortunately, they seem to have changed their plans, because we can still get on the hospital grounds OK.

It's a shame you can't surprise the condo guy the same way they do you.

It was muggy here today and the air conditioning in my car didn't work. I told hubby about it and he wasn't too worried until I mentioned that no air means no workie and I'm on strike. He got it fixed pronto.

When our parking lot got repaved I had to park on the street and move the car by 5am, needless to say I got a parking ticket 2/5 nights.

Some condos are like yours. Not much notice. But your condo at least still take care the promises, some bad one they just take your condo fee and they don't even keep up the maintenance. Good luck!!

Lucky for you your neighbors aren't like the management of the condos. So sorry you have to go through this and it's not much comfort to let you know that you are not alone, but you aren' many condos in the complex? They too must be frustrated. Hang in there.....never know what lurks around the corner. emoticon

    Hi Sheryl..........
It is certainly NEVER dull living in your condo, but I am guessing that you could do with a large portion of dull about now. Tony Soprano still comes to mind......... emoticon

I can't believe how bad your management is. Isn't there anything you can do?

It was beautiful here today, too. It rained off and on all day. We haven't had rain in so long. We're in a drought so this is fabulous!

    Hope things go better.

Oh good grief! It just never quits, does it! It is a good thing your neighbor let you know about the repaving!

My parents live in a condo. They'd left for a vacation to AZ and I was checking in on their apt. daily. Well, they started getting ants . . . everywhere. I called the condo management to have an exterminator come to get rid of the ants so they didn't overrun the condo. The person who answered the phone asked me, "How do you know they have ants?" I replied that I was in their condo LOOKING @ the ants traipse in via a bedroom window! "Do they have food in the bedroom?" Ok, well, that COULD be a valid question, and I told her no they did not, because they didn't! THEN she proceeds to ask me "Well, where are the ants coming from?" Hmmmm.... that's why we need an exterminator because I don't KNOW! After 15 minutes of this conversation, I hung up and dialed again and this time asked to talk to a supervisor. They were on it that day. Sheesh!

I wish you could get out of there, Sheryl. **SIGH**

You would be interested to know about the questionnaire I must complete every year for renewal of our professional liability insurance. It asks, among a great many other things, what percentage of our work is for homeowners' associations of condominium properties.

Being the curious sort that I am, I asked my agent why this question was of relevance. His response: "The correct answer is zero percent. Condo HOAs are notoriously super-litigious because their membership tends to whine about everything. Doing work for them would raise your premiums, possibly considerably."

One surmises that owners and tenants of condos are treated poorly by management because of a reputation of whining, deserved or otherwise. One also suspects this becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, much like under-tipping because of bad service in a restaurant turns the wait staff surly toward customers, resulting in more bad service.

    Good luck!
