St. Jude's Spin for Kids

Monday, April 08, 2013

My Spark Coach assignment today encouraged us to shake up our workouts so they do not become monotonous. I actually tried something way out of my comfort zone yesterday. My health club helped sponsor an event to raise money for St. Jude's Research.

They had a Spin For The Kids event. It was a 2 hour spin class. We went out and solicited donations and had an opportunity to help out in the local St Jude's Research Hospital fundraising.

I made it the WHOLE 2 HOURS. When I started spinning last September my biggest goal was to make it through a 45 min class. Not only did I last the full 2 hrs. but I also was a part of a relay team and we had mini races against one another and I won, TWICE!

In total I biked 32.9 miles. And afterward, while I was tired, I was not totally wasted.

It was a real stretch for me to participate in this event and I am so glad I did. I also feel very good about doing something for the kids at St. Jude's. I also came in 3rd place for donations collected. I can't wait to do it again next year!

What a great way to give back to your community by helping St. Jude's. Way to go not only lasting the two hours, winning races twice, but also for donations collected! What a wonderful way to combine exercise, fun, and community service! Congratulations to you! Sounds like you had a lot of fun along the way, too!
