Riding the See-Saw

Monday, April 08, 2013

Not sure if it's the weather (bad) or just the demeanor of all the people around me (gloomy), but I feel like I am struggling with my food choices today. I have not gone off track at all, but I really feel like it wouldn't take much to put me over the edge if a sweet, sticky treat passed my way.

I usually keep gum in my desk and in my car for just such occasions, and I have already popped 2 pieces today, but the gum seems to be having no effect on me. I need to find something that will "cure" this annoying yen without derailing myself.

I am glad I have my deep water fitness class after work to keep my thoughts contained. That way I can have a kiwi when I get home to quell the cravings.

I love cookies. any kind of cookies. I can eat an entire package or batch in one sitting. It is very hard for me to pass one up. I had to stop buying them, cause I was eating them all in a day or two. And when I first cut them out I was craving them like you would not believe! so I allowed myself one every couple of weeks to keep the monster at bay. Not just a cheap one, but a really good one. And I savored it. I ate it slowly and enjoyed it. I no longer have cravings for them. If I'm in the mall I will stop and get one. Which isn't very often.
Another thing .... Ask your self why you want *blank?* Is it just because or is your sugar low ..... When I start having uncontrollable cravings I go back and look at my food for the past week and see if I'm low on something. Some times I am low on something.... like sugar (mine is always sugar), carbs or even a vitamin or mineral.
    Just sharing what I do.

You are not alone, I've been having days like this alot lately, luckily I've haven't gained, I've been thinking of the future, my goals, shopping and looking forward to finally feeling good about myself, remember each day you are that much closer your goal, if you really want something have a little piece don't deny yourself, then jump back to your system. emoticon
