Why Pittsburgh People Will Become Extinct

Monday, April 08, 2013

Short blog today. And after yesterday's cerebral exercise, a lightweight one, so to speak.

****

Like all true provincial Baltimoreans, I hate Pittsburgh. Two World Series' losses in the '70s, countless AFC North football showdowns since that usually (until this year) left us as bridesmaids. They are smug and cocky. Now I have nothing against the City. It's the sports fans.

So now it seems that Pittsburgh sports fans will soon be extinct! Why? Well, for one thing, at their new baseball stadium, they sell this coronary-inducing concoction:

Apparently, this is made with beef, pork, egg and cheese on a bun, with the bun made of a halved, deep-fried donut with sprinkles. So how would that work in the daily Sparky nutrition tracker?

Here is the hyperlink:

Now that you have seen the Sparky light, how do you react when you see people buying and eating this type of thing? Do you shake your head and see your former self? I kinda do...

****

PS - If you expected a serious blog after yesterday's, you fail to realize that I am a perpetual 12-year old. Yeah, you know it now.

The Burgh wins again in 3 of 4 categories!

I'd TOTALLY eat that burger except for the death-dealing donut. Low carb nirvana!

And BOSS, never say "hate", please. It's an ugly, ugly word and hurts my feelings. I don't root for your teams but I don't hate them either.

Couldn't hear everything the chef said in the video (referred to in the Mashable link you posted)... obviously he's young and "immortal" and doesn't think this Cardiac=Arrest-On-A-Plate will ever affect him. Perhaps he hasn't seen this link:

(sorry, SP doesn't have a lnk generator for blog comments... just have to do it the old-fashioned way, copy and paste into a new tab/window...).

Any word on whether the Pitts actually serve this concoction to their PLAYERS? that will really make the team go downhill in a hurry? Hmmm pre-emptive strike by the Ravens??

    Cheers!

I'm a NY Mets fan. As long as Mayor (No you can't have a large soda) Bloomberg is in town, we will never see anything like that at Citifield or Yankee Stadium. LOL

(Sorry to say that I probably would have tried one in another life) So glad that girl doesn't live here anymore! :)

The only thing I can say about Pittsburgh is there was a time I specifically avoided their airport and refused to fly through...until they built that mall emoticon

I love Pittsburgh...lived her for over 18 years. But I have never eaten a Primanti's sandwich and always order my salads without fries.

    Gross, what a sandwich!!!!!

In NZ and Australia, the standard burger comes with cheese, bacon, and a fried egg. But at least it also has "salad" on it - slice of beet, slice of tomato, maybe some onion, and a sad bit of lettuce. Same for a chicken burger. We spend a lot of time listing what we DON'T want!!!

Holy Fat, Batman! I am not judgmental when it comes to people, but choices . . . sometimes, yes. This . . . I would have to say would absolutely nauseate me to see someone eat it!

I think the sparky nutrition tracker would explode if you entered this into it!

Any other country or organization who feels they need to go to elaborate lengths to subdue the U.S. position as a super-power need look no further than the bacon-donut-burger!!!

Reminds me of an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. All the sandwiches were super gargantuan, barely get your mouth around it. Nothing was simple.

Wow, what a sandwich! I definitely thought this was going to include something about the obligatory fries on salads, but this is equally as (un)impressing.

OMG - that looks absolutely disgusting. While I understand the pairing of some things, like peanut butter and chocolate, for instance. I do not understand meat on a donut.....not ever!!!!!

I have become so judgmental about the food that I see people eat.

Then again, sometimes I order a side of onion rings to share with my husband. For shame.

Only in America, you say? Pity. I know a few other places that should be sent this gastronomic disaster.
