Fitbit One Wireless Activity Plus Sleep Tracker

Thanks to a fellow Sparker 'sumthingspecial' I have purchased the Fitbit One - Wireless Activity Plus Sleep Tracker. I had gone to her blog page and was reading how she purchased the Fitbit Zip and even her children and husband was impressed with this new toy! LOL First I check this out in search here at SparkPeople and at least got a basis understanding what this fitness gadget was all about. I know I have to do something as my activity level is near nil - I think I am moving, but in reality, I am not! Going to the grocery store in the car, walking around slowly for an hour is not the kind of exercise I need, especially being on Insulin. So, I then went to Amazon and check out the Fitbit One. Well my friends, at Amazon the price is $94.99 and I said, Ok, I will do this for myself. You know I am on my own and I am good to me if necessary - so I again said Ok! So, I put the Fitbit into my cart and suddenly a window came up stating that if I (of course) apply for a Visa Card they will give me a $30.00 Gift Card towards my purchase. I said, Wowsy! Yeah for me and applied. That then brought my purchase with free shipping, but with tax to about $73.00. I am so happy, I think - Oh I don't say that about the money although I certainly am not money bags, but hope I will make use of this new gadget. I have got to get motivated and I believe 'sumthingspecial' has done that for me. I told her I would keep her posted - my new Fitbit comes about the 16th or so...

And then, I saw a post about Jillian Michael's 30 Shred in Level 1, 2 and 3. You know her, she has been on the 'Biggest Loser' TV Show. I am not crazy about her but, hey I am going to give her a shot!!! You know you can buy the video and such, but someone stated that if you go to the video is free - and it is. Saved it to my Favorites and off I go!!! So, yesterday I did my first workout. It lasted an entire 7 minutes and I had to stop. This was the slow version as they have 2 girls in the background showing you how to more. I was following the slow girl on the right. When it came to doing a jumping jacks I couldn't do it - I couldn't do the coordination of the exercise - well, maybe because I am on the second floor and was afraid I would disturb Helen downstairs - I don't know! I felt so foolish, but I am determined to do this, because again I have to get moving. I can really feel my age of 71 this year and I am just not going to let the age thing take me over. Well, this is what I am telling my self. You know, I am a successful writer enjoying being published and love my poetry, my website and crazy for animals - well now it is time to be successful with my body moving in the right direction - what cha think???

and, so it goes on my side of town...

Earlier this week I found the 30 day shred at the local resale shop - in brand new condition - so of course, I brought it home with me. I have done another one of her workouts and I was impressed that over time I was able to do it. This was when I lost the weight the first time (before baby) - so I'm going to have to take it slow and build up on it. I know it won't be easy. I'm going to try it some time this week - I'll have to let you know what I think!

Sounds like you got a great deal, enjoy your fitbit. The Jillian Michael's 30 day Shred sounds challenging. You are really motivated now. emoticon

I hope to buy the FitBit someday (just bought an expensive cellphone emoticon ) but I can totally relate to what you are saying about the walking around the supermarket, etc., not being true exercise. Today I went for a mile walk and man, that's sure different than all my daily walks here and there!! I surely felt it! Congrats on your new toy and enjoy! Love, Chelsea emoticon

So glad you got Fitbit One I got a regular Fitbit and I love it. It makes me very aware of what I am doing. I too think I am working so hard that I must be actually moving! Not the case always. Some days I'm surprised that I have so many steps and other days I'm surprised I have so few!

    Good for you

I think making a commitment to YOU is the best success in the world. All other desires and pleasures are important, but if health holds you back, even those cannot give one enjoyment.

Good luck dearheart. I need to follow YOUR lead.

GOOD FOR YOU! That is absolutely awesome that you bought the fitbit one! I love mine and I kind of freak out if I forget it in the morning before I go to work. It is kind of addictive to see those steps add up. If we are not busy at work, I work in a busy hospital so usually I don't have a problem with that, but on occasion we do have slow days, I get up and march in place or go walk around the dept so I will get some steps in. I don't like to sit still for very long and the fitbit keeps me very motivated to get my 10,000 steps in every day!
Start slow with those videos but keep on pushing to do one more minute a day. That is where it starts and it just continues from there.
You can do this at 71 yrs young, we are only as old as we tell ourselves we are! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
