Hubby's Teachable Moment

Saturday, April 06, 2013

My Hubby watches on the sidelines as I engage with Spark People. Well yesterday, I had a teachable moment with Hubby. We had to attend a funeral and instead of parking further from the church, which offered an “easy in easy out” escape; Hubby opted to park closer to the church which was clearly a bad choice for getting out after the services. So I sat quietly and did not say a word (I am so proud of myself). emoticon After the services, we walked to our vehicle and saw that we could not get out for we were blocked on all sides. So we visited with people that were passing us as they walked down the road to their car, others were still inside enjoying the Repast. Finally we got in our vehicle to wait for our vehicle to be cleared for travel. I quietly opened my Kindle to finish reading my book and Hubby reached for the newspaper that he had remembered to bring. So we waited, and waited and waited for our vehicle to be cleared to come home. At last, we were able to travel again. After lunch, we joked about our morning, I gently told my Hubby that if he exercised a little each day, he would feel better and be able to handle a walk down a country road, if he needed to. Hubby looked at me as if the light had come on and said, “it is the little things, isn’t it”? Well Spark Friends, Hubby is on the treadmill and just for today, he is following through with his plan to exercise. Just for today. “She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms”. Good for you for being quiet, I don't know if I could have been so good, lo. But because of your kindness he listened to you and is now exercising. Good job. Maybe soon you will be going on country walks together. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good for you and hubby! I am still working on mine. Our grandson was here for Spring Break and he "suggested" that grandpa needed to start eating healthier and walking like grandma! (LOL) I think he just might listen to the grandson! emoticon
