DAY 26: Family Crisis

Thursday, April 04, 2013

I care for my 8-year old grand daughter and her father still has custody of a toddler. He recently called saying he couldn't care for the baby anymore and begged me to take him. I already care for two kids and can't handle anymore, so I got the family together and found another of my sons willing to take the baby.

This is an 18-hour drive to get the baby so it took several emotional days to prepare for the baby (crib, etc) and arrange to drive down there, the day we were supposed to leave, literally 5-minutes before we left the driveway, he called and said he "changed his mind" and didn't want to give up the baby.

OMG, I wanted to kill him! What he has put us through in the last year is unbelievable. The day after this disaster, I came down with a flu that sent my asthma into overdrive and I was in bed for two days. I am up and about now but still feeling congested.

I am happy to report that through all of this, I did not run to food for comfort. I stayed on my food plan and even got some exercise on the days I wasn't sick.

Trying to get the family back to normal and everyone is feeling a little better each day.

I am so very very VERY proud of you for sticking to your plan and exercising, even through the crisis. It means you are stronger than you have been in the past, and you are learning to deal with stress in a healthier way. I hope that your family issues get ironed out and that you're feeling better soon. I just wanted to stop by and give you lots and lots of emoticon
