Soooooooo bad last night!!!

Thursday, April 04, 2013

I have to confess to being sooooooo bad last night! They say confession is good for the soul so read on!

There was a surprise 65th party for a former co-worker, good buddy of mine last night at the local neighbourhood pub and of course DH and I had to go. Just to set the stage I should state that I have been in a zone lately and had lost a couple pounds finally, this the result of buckling down with tracking the calories and making better choices. Plus I had made sure to exercise daily.

We were so good and took a taxi as we would have a drink and didn't want to drive.

It was so nice to see all the gang I used to work with, catch up on all the news with everyone and celebrate Dick's 65th.

Then came the inevitable 'pub food' appies like deep fried shrimp, mushrooms, wings and unidentifiable things with the same brown-coated appearance. I held out for a good while grabbing a couple carrot and celery sticks as the trays went on by. Question: why are there only like 8 pieces of veggie sticks on a big platter of deep-fried appies. I ate like 6 of them!

Anyway the first drink I ordered was a tonic with lime juice. emoticon That kept me going for awhile.

Then DH ordered a hamburger cut in half (deep fried appies not being his idea of dinner). So then I ordered a glass of wine to go with my half. I must say here in my defence I only ate like 6 fries. I know I had considered earlier in the evening ordering a green salad. Why the heck I didn't do that I don't know. Hmmmm! emoticon

So to make a long story short, we ended up staying til the end as the celebrant's wife offered us a ride home. I had another glass of wine and a small piece of birthday cake. Again, in my defence, it was a homemade cake, really delicious.!

I got home and watched American Idol and had a few jujubes! Now I just remembered yesterday afternoon I treated myself to a Lindt white chocolate Easter egg. emoticon

What can I say? I blew it big-time yesterday. I did have a great time though. It's just the total horror of adding up all the calories of the blowout that makes me grimace. I did go to water aerobics in the morning so I would have burned a few calories of all the excesses off.

So I sigh a big heartfelt 'Oh well'. Won't be doing that again for a long while. Back on track today. One blip on the radar screen is NOT going to derail me. I'm jumping right back on the Spark bandwagon today. "Yes I am", as Mary Murphy would declare!! emoticon

You have confessed and you're back on the bandwagon now, so, I for one forgive you the indulgence. Glad you had a good time! emoticon

I think you're focusing on the negatives too much! It sounds like you made a good decision and avoided a lot of the greasy appetizers, then had a reasonable portion of dinner (only half a burger and 6 fries isn't so terrible). I wouldn't call that blowing it big-time! The sweets and wine were a little indulgence, which can certainly have a place in a healthy lifestyle - just don't make it a regular habit! I bet if you add up all of the calories from the whole week and then divide that number by 7, you'll find your daily average isn't all that bad.

Now give yourself a high five for the good choices, do a nice happy dance (it burns calories!) and carry on with nutritious foods and water aerobics! :)

Great job of jumping back on the wagon!!!! You also showed a lot of restraint at the party. You should be proud you didn't completely give in to the urges.

:))) Now doesn't that feel better?!?!?!!? Got it off your chest......while we're being honest.......I just didn't feel like cooking dinner last night...all I wanted was Island Creamery Ice Cream (Just happens to be the BEST Ice cream on the Delmarva Peninsula!) SO my dinner was a big cup of chocolate oreo cookie ice cream!! *Whew* I feel better now!!! :)

Like you its back on the SP Bandwagon....had a good breakfast and did a major kettlebell workout...... emoticon emoticon

    Have a GREAT DAY!!!!
