It's time for another birthday celebration. Today is my middle son's 25th and my DIL's 27th. We celebrated her's on Easter. My son has requested a pizza and beer party for him and his buds. I think I'll schedule his party for a weekend in about two weeks, still choosing the location. Think the location was just settled. but will have to include a bottle of wine or two for the moms (most of which are in my Wine and Whine group, a feisty bunch of advocates for their now adults children with special needs)

Ah Celebration! He, I and our family, have survived his open heart surgery, a three month ICU stay, getting a pacemaker at 19 and various other surgeries. Through it all his joyful spirit shines through. Loving life, enjoying life, celebrating life.

He has taught me to cherish all the good. Stand up and speak up for those who cannot do so for themselves. Most of all to love. He is happy with who he is, a lesson I needed to learn. That we are wonderful just as we are.

With his limited speech he requested a Pizza and Beer party with his friends. How can I not oblige.

You have loved him and that love is multiplied and overflowing to others. Enjoyed so much reading about it all. It lifts my heart and makes me want to be a woman with your kind of courageous, grateful spirit.

I love what BLW had to say and absolutely could not improve on it.

I read your blog to my husband because it is so beautiful! I have no doubt that your precious and beloved son has taught you many lessons -- patience with yourself and the world, that true change comes slowly and incrementally, for two!

You are so right -- we ARE wonderful, just the way we are!

Isn't it ironic that what we think are blessings are usually temporary, and bring about superficial "happiness". Then a true blessing comes along, nothing we would have ordered up. And that disguised blessing gives us insight, wisdom and the deepest most profound blessing. That which we never could have received in any other way.

    God is good.

Raise those glasses in a toast!
