Fremantle Day 2
Tuesday, April 02, 2013
Monday was a beautiful day to cruise down the Swan River to Fremantle. I made sure to take my Bonnine before we set out so that I did not wind up feeding the fish. We had a nice relaxing cruise with plenty of interesting scenery along the way. The architecture in Freo is so varied, from the modern Maritime Museum to the Victorian style houses, to the limestone Prison. It was all wonderful to see.
After an interesting tour of the Maritime Museum, I decided to have a salad for lunch so that I could have a scoop of Italian pistachio ice cream for dessert. It was then off to the Old Prison which was built by the prisoners out of limestone on the prison site in the 1850's. While I did not see any ghosts, I would not like to spend any time there alone.
After the prison tour i got to see some more beautiful old buildings on my way to the War Memorial, which is located in the highest part of town and offers a spectacular view of the harbor and the Indian Ocean. It was then time to catch the ship back to Perth.
Back in Perth, I decided to try some grilled Emu for dinner. It tasted similar to steak. I don't know if I can eat kangaroo if I know what it is. We will have to wait and see on that one. Well, it's off to bed since I had a big day of touring again tomorrow.
