Good end to March

Monday, April 01, 2013

After my little break down last week, I got my s#it together and my workouts improved a lot (food is still another obstacle but it was a lot better then it had been, well besides Easter but you know how that goes). The weather is finally getting better so I walked to work all week (60 min total a day) and even got to run! I haven’t run since November and that was one time since I injured myself training for the half-marathon in October that I couldn’t run. It felt great! I felt like an idiot that I was running and smiling and was just so happy to be out there running. Seriously I didn’t know it would feel so great. The first day I ran was Thursday and it was 50 degrees and sunny and having the first sunny, warm day of the year felt awesome. I was able to run 3 miles and really happy to be able to go that far. I was so sore Friday and Saturday but it felt good. Then I ran again yesterday but it was colder (35-40 degrees) and windy so that one did not go as well but it still felt good. I’m so glad to be back at it. I also signed up for my first 5k race that is in May. There is a race this Saturday that I’m thinking about signing up for as well. We’ll see, I think the weather is supposed to be nice so I might have to do it. I also decided to sign up for the half-marathon. I’m waiting to officially sign up to see how running these 5ks go and make sure my foot is going to hang in there. If you remember the podiatrist diagnosed me with tight calves causing pain in side of my foot. I got new shoes and he gave me stretches to do. They definitely help but I haven’t run much since then so I don’t know how well my foot is going to hold up. He said that if it didn’t get better that I would have to go to physical therapy to help it. I’m only slightly cautious because my foot started hurting when I was running yesterday but I think that is because I tied my shoes too tight and once I loosened them it felt better. But I still want to see how it holds up the more I run before I commit the money to the half-marathon. But if I have anything to do about it, it will happen damn it.

I had a really good weekend. Spent lots of time with the bf so that is always good :) Saw Oz and the Croods which were good. Spent time with the family and even with the drama I enjoyed spending time playing with my nieces and nephews. They are just so funny.

This week I’m going to keep up the workouts and start focusing on food too. I went grocery shopping last night so I have a lot of fresh fruits and veggies so I’m set up to have a good week.

Hope you guys had a fabulous weekend and that Monday is treating you well :)

Dammit why am I not getting notifications when you post anymore!?! GRRR!!! I'll have to go back and read about the meltdown but it sounds like you're in a good place now. That's all we can hope for. Fingers crossed for the foot stuff. Injuries suck. Just stretch and do all you can to baby it and you should be good to go!
