I got a workout at church tonight!

Thursday, March 28, 2013

I started this morning with cereal, a shower and some upper body strength training with weights and my balance disc. After that, I spent a few hours sitting at the computer getting things done for the murder mystery. Eventually mom and I made it out of the house to get some things done, but we also went out for lunch to Applebees where I received my free birthday shooter. I know that I probably shouldn't have, but your birthday only comes once a year. So, I ate my birthday dessert and enjoyed it. After we made it home, I again sat at the computer to do more murder mystery work. Then it was church time. We went to Subway for dinner where I had a veggie delight kids meal with apples and water. Less than 300 calories so it helped make up for the birthday dessert :) At church tonight, I was running around like crazy...literally. We had 34 kids in our group tonight and 6 in my class alone. Which, I'm used to 30 kids in a classroom, but this is totally different. During this 20-25min time frame, I have 6, 3rd and 4th grade, girls trying to recite memorized Bible verses to me, sometimes at the same time. So I am usually listening to one girl say her verses while I'm looking at another girl's book to check what they already have finished. After that, it's game time. Game time has been crazy lately as we've had so many kids that I've had 11-13 kids on my color line and half of them don't get to participate in a game because we run out of time. So tonight, they decided to do 2 color circles, which was much needed. I had 7 girls on my line and we were off to a great start when suddenly, one of my girls was doing the marathon race, 6 laps around the circle, when she got passed, which takes you out of the race. As she got passed, she came off to the side like you're supposed to when she collapsed to the floor. I thought maybe she had rolled her ankle during the previous lap as I saw her foot turn. But then she couldn't catch her breath. I had her laying down with her knees bent trying to take some deep breaths and it wasn't getting any better. So I helped move her a little more out of the way of game time and continued to watch her. Within 5 min, she went from having a hard time catching her breath, to having that blank stare that was telling me she was about to pass out. So I sent one of my other girls for my mom, who is an ER nurse. When my mom came, she had me run to get some ice...literally run. As I went there, we sent another girl to get this one's mom. Well, she couldn't find her mom so I went running again to find her. My mom and her mom eventually carried her out of the gym and to a couch we keep in one of the church bathrooms so she could lay down someplace cooler than the gym. They had to carry her because when they stood her up, her knees were buckling. After she laid there for a bit, they actually had her use the church showers to try and cool her down faster to see if that would help. I'm not exactly sure how she is now, but her dad is a nurse as well, he wasn't at church tonight, so I know he will be watching her and will know if she needs to be taken in to the hospital. Anyways, after game time, we went back to the classroom for lesson time. Almost as soon as I walked into the room, my dad sent me literally running again to make some copies before it was time to send them home. After church was done, I still had to "run laps" through the church for one reason or another. By the time I got home, I was ready for bed, but still had murder mystery work to do. So, I've been sitting here at the computer for a couple hours again, but I am finished with what I was doing, which means tomorrow, I can send out characters, which will take, maybe, 30-45min, and then I'm done at the computer for a few days. Tomorrow I have to do some running around town picking up some prizes and other things for the murder mystery so I won't be out and I will be working more on getting my steps in. So, I'm hoping that my running tonight helped make up for all my sitting at the computer and that tomorrow will be slightly less eventful in some ways! :)

On a side note, I am participating in a Relay for Life event on June 1st and I need your help! I'm walking/running Relay for my grandma who passed away January 2012 from Leukemia. So, my goal is to raise $100 for the American Cancer Society. If you could help me reach that goal, I would really appreciate it! If you donate, let me know and I'll send you a SparkGoodie! Here is the link to my page and THANK YOU for helping find cures for cancer!

Wow! What a night! I sure hope the young lady is ok. That kind of thing can be really scary!

I am so glad to hear you are supporting the ACS. I too have had relatives sickened or lost due to cancer. More birthdays are SO important! I visited your site and helped you towards your goal. I hope you make (and exceed) it!

I hope the little girl is alright, that's a lot of stress to experience.
But it sounds like your training for the race is taking care of itself.
