Took a few days off.

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

When I say I took a few days off, I really tok a few days off. 10 of us went to a lodge up north and all but 2 of us were out snowmobiling all day. I did nothing. I didnt do any of the cooking or cleaning, just enjoyed the view and went into town one day to check it out. That was it!!! Two of the guys that set this trip up did all the cooking and the other guys did most of the cleaning up. LOVE IT.
We went out for dinner one night and I had chicken breast with mushrooms on garlic bread, sounded like the healthiest item but really wasn't that great. Basically I did not do great food wise, not having any say in the menu, we were told not to bring anything. We had typical bacon and egg breakfast both mornings and burgers for dinner the second night. I did snack more than I should have and had a few more drinks than I should have but what the heck. Spilt milk.
I have two busy late night ahead then Easter dinner at Gary's mom's then its back to business.
We decided we were going to do a meat free week next week. I have looked up a bunch of recipes and I think I may do more than a week, even if gary choses not to. The more I read the more I am interested in it. I still will have fish and eggs and dairy, just going to do the meat for the week and see how that goes, if I want to go further I will.
Still going to focus on Step one of Phase 2 on the spark diet and work on portion control, starting Monday.
Glad to be back where I have control, but it was very nice to have no control and no responsibility. Next year I will go, and tell them I want to do all the cooking and meal planning....maybe.

Everyone needs a break from their typical life now and again. But hey, you didn't totally take a break from your healthier journey: you still made better choices than you probably would've before. That's pretty awesome. It's a sign of progress.
