I will unpack the last 4 goals of my 8 goals... Here they are as a review...

Goal 5: Drink 8 - 8 oz Glasses Of Water Per Day
Goal 6: Walk 17 Miles Per Week (includes daily activity walking not planned walking separate from running errands, and life in general)
Goal 7: Lose 50+ Pounds
Goal 8: Sleep 7-8 Hours Per Night

Let’s look at each one, one by one like before...

Goal 5: Drink 8 - 8 oz Glasses Of Water Per Day

Here is my cute water bottle... It holds 10 oz of water... I have read DOZENS of articles on SparkPeople on drinking water... Here are a few things I have taken away from all that reading... It helps to have a water bottle that you enjoy using... Adding flavor helps if water is just to blah... If you don’t drink those 8 – 8 oz of water in day like you want... Don’t fret about it... You can start over tomorrow! Learning to drink water and enough is something LOTS of people struggle with... Prior to SparkPeople I was drinking ZERO water... Only water that ever entered my mouth was brushing my teeth and during a shower... I was drinking 4-5 Mt. Dew (12 oz cans) and 1-3 Coca Colas (12 oz cans) a day instead... Every once in a while I’d drink a glass of juice... I used to drink 1-2; 12 oz glasses of milk but with the prices I’d moved away from that as well... When I cut out sodas... I was pretty much drinking NOTHING... Zero liquid was entering my body each day... I struggled for weeks! I still struggle with this goal on a daily basis... The changes of a fun water bottle, flavoring, and having a 2 Qt pitcher full in the fridge and when it is gone I have reached my goal for the day has improved things... Still lots of room for improvement...

Goal 6: Walk 17 Miles Per Week (includes daily activity walking not planned walking separate from running errands, and life in general)

My pedometer and Fitness Tracker helped me set up this goal... I average about 15-18 miles per week when I walk 5,000 per day... So, it is kind of a no brainier and a goal I don’t have to think about or focus on... It just happens... As my steps increase this goal will also have to be increased to keep up... I follow my progress on this goal both in the Fitness Tracker plus with weekly progress reports emailed to me from my pedometer...

Goal 7: Lose 50+ Pounds

I have had this dream for a while to wear this dress I wore in 2004 (before I became pregnant with my 3rd of the six children)... I weighted 167 lbs at that time... So, my goal is to make it back down to that weight and wear that dress... If I am able to lose even more weight, that would be a bonus! I even have a fundraiser I want to wear the dress to... This year the fundraiser is the first Saturday in October... Not sure if I will reach that weight by then but that is my long term goal... I have learned in my life you need short term goals, medium term goals, and long term goals... Each building on each other to reach the next...

Goal 8: Sleep 7-8 Hours Per Night

This is something I have struggled with more than a decade... Some of my lack of sleep is because of the fact I had 6 children in a decade 2000 to 2010... Some of it is just out of habit and poor self care... Putting other things as a priority over my own necessity of sleep... I also fell into the habit of EXCESSIVE day time napping... That in turn really messes up your night time sleeping patterns... On average I’m sleeping 6-7 hours a night... My pedometer is helping me track this... One of things I am going to focus on once I have some of these other goals as second nature...

    Yes. Water is always a challenge. That's why it is worth so many spark points I guess. Love it that you have 6 kids! If I had a chance to do it all again I would too. Keep sparking,

    I do really well with the water goal when I think about it, but NOTHING comes 2nd nature to me! You have some great goals to work toward and I am confident you can achieve them with focus and commitment.
    Keep your eye on the prize (that little black dress!) and you'll be there before you know it!

    Great goals Caroline. I have struggled a lot with the water too. I find I need to change strategies from time to time to keep on track but it is going pretty well now. Good luck with all your goals. You can do it!
