foot update

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

Love it when I pay a doctor for stupid advice. $91 (after my 30% discount)-first he tells me he thinks there's a deep bone bruise that's worse then the fracture. He wants to do an MRI to get a better look. I told him I didn't have insurance. Oh.

Well, he suggested I could wear a boot ($400 from him or $35 on Amazon) but I didn't have to. Or I could put this toe thing in my shoe. I finally stopped him and asked, "What happens if I do nothing? Oh, it should heal fine.

He did tell me no treadmill and wear stiff shoes. He said don't soak it as it will swell more(my husband brought that up-he thinks it fixes everything) and use ice.

Thanks. I was doing that before I spent $91. Apparently, the doctors office got their info incorrect (my doctor was gone) when they told me it wasn't healing right-it's healing slowly.

I broke my big toe running into a neighbor's mailbox on a sled. There was nothing that could be done. My toe recovered. It's good that your foot is healing without any kind of treatment, but not so good that you had to pay $91. My apologies for telling you to see a doctor. I did think that was good advice, but after the fact, I see it wasn't.

Oh, Lucy... I'm so sorry! "The agony of the feet" - but this sounds both painful and so frustrating... Love what Blondie wrote about "practicing medicine"! I wish you smooth healing - even if it can't be swift enough - and am muttering a sympathetic, "Grrr!" for you.

They ARE a very frustrating bunch of peeps, aren't they? Did he say he thought it was a stress fracture, then? emoticon - Susan
