Being positive for others? Why not myself?

First off.... did another workout this morning ~ today would be a normal walking day, so I did 30 minutes on the Wii and then a 20 minute Wii Zumba routine ~ keeping on track with my exercise and diet....

Secondly, I'm reading through blogs ~ many of them people who are down.... and I can so easily offer advice and encouragement.... when it's other people who are down.... but why can't I take my own encouragement and advice when I'm the one who is discouraged and down??

I just wrote this on someone's blog who gained back a pound....
"We've all been there! I've been working out 5 days a week and tracking every calorie and have only seen the scale move up.... it's VERY discouraging and we all get that! The difference is, none of us can give up! Quitting makes it permanent!
"We all get comfortable at whatever weight we are at, because that is the easy place to be! It doesn't take much work stay in one spot! But we all have to keep moving and keep working to make a change! Slow and steady wins the race!
"Most of us have used something (starving ourselves, pills, etc) to try a "magic cure"... only to have the weight come back in full force and usually plus some more! Fat is a formable foe! It doesn't want to lose! But if we keep gradually chipping away at it, it does lose and we win!
"So you've had your bad day! We've all been there! Chin up and get moving again! We are here to support you when we can! Let us know when you get to your own Biggest Loser Moment! "

So why can't I apply that in my own life? Seems pretty simple! And something I've heard so many times! Is it because I'm just talking the talk but not walking the walk? I don't believe that.... I'm definitely walking the walk when it comes to tracking my diet and doing the exercise.... so why can't I stay positive when I'm so discouraged and down?

    I can relate. All I can say is, I am there when somebody needs me and they are there for me when I need them. It's just a cycle. It's like giving diet advice...I don't look like I know what I am talking about, but I have read so many books and articles. I know how and what to do, it's just making myself do it.

    That is the great thing about Spark, you don't feel alone and know that others are feeling the exact same way!!!

    I am the same way... Can encourage everyone but myself.... But it isn't simple at times, because we all go through the "I screwed up again" moments... And it's hard to remain positive. That's why we join places like this to encourage ourselves through the down moments!

    I can so relate to this, i do the same thing. I celebrate others for losing a pound but when it comes to myself i always get discourage and think i should've done better. Maybe it's just that we are our own worst enemies.

    We are always hardest on ourselves! I think that is one of the many reasons spark people is so great! When I get discouraged, I can always get on here and vent, and there is always someone to help pick me back up and encourage me to keep going! It helps to know that there are others going through what we are! We are not alone!
